Well, I think it's because many of the pro-lifers see it as a stepping stone towards abortion on demand.

So was allowing women to be TD's :P

    It is done.

And about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.

No woman who wants an abortion will use this process.
It will make no difference whatsoever to what has been going on for years.

I seen a stat in the IT saying that 97% of cases will be unaffected by it.

I'd be surprised if gay marriage isn't implemented within the next few years.
Hang in there, there's still time!

i was mainly against it,due to the promised last minute amendments by pro-choice politicians, but this never happened, i still dont agree with it,but im happy its unusable.

And have you always had such disregard for the health and safety of pregnant women, or is this a recent development?

It has served the very useful purpose of telling the Catholic Church and its nutty adherents that they no longer have control over the people of this country. We can now build on this victory and winkle them out of the schools and hospitals and wherever in public life they seek to have their view imposed upon us.

Heh, you lecture me on ignorant posts, that's cute.

It was a law designed to help save lives. Pregnant women in danger of dying from pregnancy are people too, you may be astonished to hear. Being against it, well, it implies pretty clearly that there are some lives you don't want to see saved. Why such disregard for those people?

Quite apart from the implied support for opposing the constitutional obligations of the state, who took 20 years to obey the highest court in the land because of opposition like yours. Opposition that to date has seen little in the way of logic, or reasoning that wasn't totally flawed. You've yet to supply anything within sniffing distance of a good reason for your opposition to constitutionally required human rights.

Enjoy death from exhaustion then. I don't think it's going to happen. Amazing cognitive dissonance in that picture, with the "protect them" signs at the back contrasted with the opposition to a law that protects pregnant women. It's like the loudest pro-life people really don't have a clue. :)

Better get comfortable not resting, you'll be doing it for a long time.

No, you see what they need protected from is surviving, they should die if there are any issues supposedly.

Good. The only way for that to happen is for the 8th amendment to be removed from the constitution. It's nice to see the pro-choice and pro-life sides agree on something

Wonder if they do a dance routine where they swap positions and spell out different sentences?

They're still shoving the < ten young people they have up to the front. Isn't that funny how they always manage to do that?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

You could probably name them at this stage.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Bobby42

Wait, wait, the posters are in different colours!

    There's candles too!

Its a difficult argument to make. "We need to make Irish abortion laws more unclear and uncertain".

Doesn't sound great, better just hold some shiny posters instead.

They also have no answer to the suicide clause they're so against.

The argument is that "abortion is not a treatment for suicide" and that women "need to be provided with the care they need".

But when asked what happens when a pregnant woman is still suicidal even after a whole host of pychological interventions,

    we are met with "................."
