If twitter and the usual simracing forums is anything to go by this DLC is going down a storm.

The escort alone is worth the €8 their asking. It's the new sideways machine, it's so much fun to drive, especially at brands hatch. The two classic lotus F1 cars are also amazing. The 72D is a big surprise, one of the best F1 cars so far IMO. Didn't get too much time in the 25 but its unique. The engine sounds like something from the era.

Outside of that I just tried the new SLS GT3, it's a very easy car to drive consistently. Was able to just jump in and win the new challenge for that car. But all the GT3s are a bit like that. It's a good car for beginners to race I'd say. The AI were very well behaved. I only had them on medium so their lap times weren't great but it was a very clean race.

Tried the 1200hp Lambo for 1 or 2 laps of silverstone, it's mental. Try to accelerate out of corners and it just crap walks off the track spinning all four wheels.

All in all, a great DLC, the cars are fantastic and brands hatch is usual Kunos quality.

Anyone else here on can't stand that c*nt SLAP TRAIN on youtube?

Everytime one of his videos autoplay on youtube I feel like punching the screen, most annoying voice in the race sim scene!

Starting to get balls deep into AC lately and really enjoying it.

I do have some reservations about it though.

There seems to be very few people in public servers that use non DLC.

So many empty servers going unused.

Setting up your own server is a bit of a pain, it has the worst interface I've encountered in a pc game and it doesnt account for everything forcing you to change a lot of settings in a config file.

And as far as I can tell if you merely need to make a single change to the server, like a car or track, you need to restart it? Seriously?

The core game itself is great though, all it's missing is weather and night modes.

Many of the regular players would have bought all the DLC packs, they're discounted on release so they get snapped up.

There won't be night modes the engine can't handle more than one light source. They haven't totally discounted rain, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Assetto Corsa has got it's release date on consoles.
    http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/assetto-corsa-2015-and-beyond.115468/page-37

    Running at 1080 @ 60fps.

It doesn't look like they had to cut any corners, the graphics look as good as on PC.

How it works with a controller is up in the air, I know there are people playing with a controller on PC and say they can get it set up and working well but the developers say if you want to get the full experience your going to need a wheel.

    I've Pre-ordered my copy for the PS4, I can't wait.
PCars is far too unreliable and the FFB seems to change everytime you play it.

There's a great video floating about with an interview from one of the founders of Kunos talking about how they go about things.
    April can't come soon enough.

    EDIT

Sorry if these links don't work, I'm using my phone and struggling with it!

@ Titzon Toast fixed that for you

PCARS is a joke tbh from a joke of a dev team [don't get me started lol], you have to dial in force feedback for every car, no setting works across the board, this is just idiotic in the extreme.
Physics are really dumbed down too compared to assetto corsa, SCE [soon to be AUTOMOBILISTA].rfactor 1/2 and iracing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,093 ✭✭✭Doge

Biggest surprise for me from the interview was that there's only a few lines of code for FFB, that the physics engine is so good its all it needed.

Also surprised that they can't get the Xbox One version to run at 1080p, theres quite a few games that perform worse on it.

What's worse is, you can dial in all the ffb settings under the sun and still not make some cars feel right.

PCars was a great idea badly executed. Perhaps if they'd had more money for development time things might have been different.

I'm jumping onto it now to try get some settings right after the last patch, I'm so sick of looking at those damn menus!

    Viva AC.

The 1.5 update with updated tracks is coming in March. No word on whether we'll get the two American cars in the update or whether they're scheduled for a DLC further down the road.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

FIA came knocking at Kunos door apparently. WTCC were testing at Vallelunga around the same time (Kunos have an office at the track), could be nothing but it's interesting to see the professionals giving it some attention.

I reckon if the FIA were to do anything with Kunos it might be to promote Formula E, their big series already command good money as is.

I think its release date has been pushed back to late Summer 2016.
I'm not 100% about where you can preorder it.

Update 1.5 plus free bonus pack is out on March 31st. It's going to include the Corvette C7 Stingray, Ford Mustang , New “Black Cat County” Track, plus a little surprise which I'm assuming is the Fiat in the video.

Can't wait to have a go on those yank tanks.

I really wish the multiplayer wasnt so limited in AC.

As i said before theres only a handful of populated servers to choose from, and only a handful of cars in those servers. That gets boring pretty quick, and the server application is absolutely awful which may be to blame.

I really hope they replace the entire Web based GUI (which is poor also imo) with the one the consoles will use, and put a decent server setup within the main game menu itself just like on consoles.
Thats the only way I can see them getting the numbers on PC.

The game literally feels like its abandoned online right now, I can see myself eventually buying the PS4 version when it comes down in price, in the hope of actually having a more diverse multiplayer experience.

Its such a shame because at its core its a very good Sim.

Has anyone tried playing AC Multiplayer using Race2Play?

I wonder if theres more servers to choose from on there.

Join a racing league or join a racing club, loads of them about for most sims.
I recommend the race department one, great for just some fun clean racing in a safe environment.

Aye I'm with a bunch of French and Italian racing clubs, servers are full 24/7, couple of hundred from the 2 clubs alone. Having great fun with them and improving with each passing day

Brokenbrakes.org (nice guys, some of them speak English, mostly Italian, and evolution-f1-racing.forumactif.org (for the F1 mods server, its the most populated one, normally 18-20 every night, they dont speak much English)

Have people been trying much of the black cat country track? I tried a hypercar race on it last night and it was pretty awesome. I drove the Zonda which was probably a bit overpowered for the rest of the competition and I could have left the GTR and F40 S3 out of it but it was some race once it got going. The Lambo was cauing headaches for everybody as it crawled around the corners then shot off like a rocket on the straights, by rights it shouldn't have held up the pack as much as it did but other than that the AI was very competitive. Got some air time in the Zonda and had to be fairly cautious with it in places. The Zonda is a beast though, I hadn't drove it in a while.

I've been away from my PC pretty much since the update came out. I've only put in an hour or two on this update. One thing that kind of stood out is understeer is more obvious and more realistic to me. I had some moments that reminded me of real life understeer where you're just able to get the car to turn enough by managing brakes and acceleration.

You can pre-order the PS4 version for £30 here:

    http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/assetto-corsa-ps4-xo-29-85-delivered-simply-games-2440185

Not sure if they deliver to Ireland so you may need to use Parcel Motel / Wizard, or Address Pal.

A new rating app has been released for AC, it is going to try and bring an iRacing style rating system to AC.

    http://www.simracingsystem.com/

It's a bit overloaded at the moment so it's hard to get signed up. I signed up yesterday and I'm still waiting for the registration email so I can complete the registration and try the app.

There's reports of a few bugs and if you sign up now you'll basically be beta testing it, but it promises to put an end to wreckers and encourage better race craft online.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

I did two races with this system over the weekend and it certainly encourages good racing. Did the KTM at vallelunga club, we all made it through the first corner without incident, with that car at that track, that's an achievement.

Also did the DTM which was a better race, again, having the points system in the background was having an obvious effect on people, to the point they'd go off track rather than be involved in a collision.

The servers are in Portugal so international players can have bad pings. But it's a test bed at the moment so that can be easily forgiven and not so much of an issue for us in Ireland.

I don't know how effective the ranking system is at this point. The numbers are a bit low for it to be really utilized to it's full potential. Each race server allows 20 cars, so the ranking only really comes into effect when you've got 30+ cars that can be split into two groups. So it's going to be a case of the more users the better.

I think this app is a must for anyone running AC. Even the race selection GUI makes online racing a much more pleasant experience.

My biggest complaint pretty much only complaint of AC is the sounds, they are ok but not good enough imo.

If anyone feels the same go grab the FONSECKERS SOUNDPACK v1.5 from here, makes a big difference, some nice cars there too.

There may be a chance it's not an entirely Italian pack. On the main forum the developers said the red bull ring isn't Italian and that's due to come out soon too. But it looks like we may get some version of the 488 or maybe even the F1 car that was shown in some of the console trailers. Maybe both, but it looks like it's going to include the red bull ring too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

The weekend of the 3rd of June seems to be when they want to release the red bull ring to coincide with the Austrian GP. As it's being linked to the F1 I'm guessing we're going to get that Ferrari F1 car teased in the console trailer too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

Italian pack seems to have officially changed to the "red pack", looks like there's a few F1 cars incoming along with the red bull ring.

So far these cars have been hinted at.

    Ferrari F1
    Ferrari 488 GT3/E
    Maserati 250F
    Lamborghini Aventador SV

Out the 26th August on PS4. The guys at isrtv tried the current build at E3 and said its pretty much exactly the same as the PC version which is great news. Yeah also looking forward to it, especially after seeing Gran Turismo Sport and being disappointed.

Except for the PC version thanks to PC hardware has options for 144hz and every res up to 4k :) trust me 144hz is mind blowingly smooth.

But yeah they said the physics which is the meat of the sim felt identical to them.

4K resolution doesn't mean much if the game does not have 4K textures though.

Im not sure tbh, I'd be surprised if the stock textures are 4K though.

Otherwise everything is just being upscaled.

Btw Scumlord, someone posted a screenshot of race results in iRacing on the Sim Racers group on facebook. He came first using the Oculus Rift and said that he prefers it to any Ultra Wide screen or triple monitor setup. VR definitely seems to be improving peoples lap times, when are you going to take the plunge? ;)

I've been watching the new cards, I think I'll need one. I currently have a 770 and I don't think it's up to the job. I've been toying with the idea of just buying a rift, I've heard some people say it's workable on the 770.

Ever since that feature Top Gear did where Jeremy Clarkson races around Leguna Seca in Gran Turismo 4 in a Honda NSX R, and then does it with the same car in real life, I wanted them or the new series coming out to do a feature on proper Racing Sims with proper high end hardware.

Would be great to see the community get some good exposure.
