Having read through a few threads, ive come up with the following shopping list which I want to price directly and all inclusive with an installer.

    Siemens 4320 Panel
2 Bell Boxes (is there a need for one front and back of house or is a dummy at front sufficient)
2 Keyfobs (What is the range on these and do they work through walls?)
    1 Wired Keypad

    Contacts to have inertia
    2 Door Contacts
    1 Wired Window contact
2 Wireless Window Contacts (Roughly how expensive are these? Probably best to look at covering 4 accessible rooflights if within budget)
    2 PIRs

House is partially wired. Remaining areas cannot be easily wired now.

Is there anything obvious Im leaving out?
Are Siemens systems relatively easy to get at local (southeast) electrical suppliers or alternatively would these be available to purchase directly online?

Do you wish to self install? If not all I would suggest at this time is to get 3 quotes from reputable PSA registered installers. They should at least provide you with a site visit and a written quotation complying with the necessary standards we have to conform to. Also these guys will advice you and will clear up a lot of your queries. Any installer anywhere on this island will have no issue sourcing Siemens equipment.

Is it illegal to self install?

From what i can find on the net, Private Security Services Act 2004, anyone installing CCTV or alarm systems must be licensed under the PSA. This act "covers persons who provide a security service for remuneration." So self install is ok?

Johnny is correct. Self install is allowed.

It is not illegal to self install your own system.
Just make the insurance company you use aware it is self installed.
