Missing mains cables for old external HDs.

I have a few hard drives from 2007/08 and a client has asked for files from one of them.

I've just discovered that I have mislaid the mains cables for them. Maddening! :mad:

I'm told that I can get a generic casing that will allow me to access the files from a HD if I remove it from the casing it came in.

I can remove the HD no problem. So, what's the generic casing I must buy?

A dock/caddy will do it, but you must get the right sort PATA/IDE or SATA, depending on the hard drives. You place the drives into the dock and connect to the computer via usb or eSATA cable. The caddy will have it's own power supply.

3.5 inch drive sata or ide will need a caddy with a power supply ,
cost 35 euro approx.

if drive is . 2.5 inch sata ,ide get a caddy usb powered ,
needs no power supply ,takes power from usb cable.

or you can buy a "Universal AC/DC Adaptor", have one myself, i have several ExHDs, and instead of plugging in and out different plugs i have the one plugged in.
