Have to say the interior of the VW Porsche does nothing for me. Very bland imo.

They can be bland alright. Optional trims and leather are extremelly expensive options with Porsche. It is easy to spend to have to spend an extra 15k on the interior goodies alone.
But I think this is the nature of those cars too. A Ferrari can be a bland place to sit too, but this is secondary. At least it used to be, interiors nowadays on new models are usually more appealing.

Wash, polish & wax. I actually did this last week so it's dirty again

I had to take my own bumper off today to test fit a new one, 14 screws later...nobump.jpg

Water pump in. Easy job, so long as you don't break the pulley when taking it off!

I got a new key fob thing to replace one of my old ones which are both battered and look ****e. Also got a new 335i badge as the old one had surface damage (tiny rough spots).

    Small things but things nonetheless!

Absolutely, people get hung up on tax and petrol prices where the overall price difference can be tiny.
Don't be giving away that information  :D

A 318d badge would look so much cooler on that car !

Recently sent a gearbox to my home country. For reconditioning (badly worn bearings, as usual with toyotas). Arrived back here yesterday. :D

    150 euro, including 2 bearings from Mr. T. :)

    Good or bad?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,331 ✭✭✭toyotaavensis

Good. A used one from a scrapyard is 200 ish.
Getting one reconditioned here can be 300-600.

After everyone saying that the car would look much better if the tailpipes weren't all bloody carboned up I got these, they have made quite the difference I must say, now I'll keep them clean :D

I was servicing the Tr4 and got a notion to do this. I'm not finished, waiting for the stupid VHT paint to dry. Put it back on the engine and ran it for awhile and it's still not dry...

Still not dry! Have to take it back off again and clean off all the paint and go again. I wouldn't mind, I washed it, degreased it, washed, sanded, wire brushed, degreased, wash and thoroughly dried it!

I think I may have put on too many coats, I think I did three. I'll be just giving it one coat next time around and if it fits in the oven I'll be baking it.

Edit: I should say when I took the oil filter housing off the Tr4 I sanded it back, primed it and paint it with the VHT and it was dry in no time. The VHT paint says direct to metal so I can't come to any other conclusion than that I put on too many layers.

Got the dent pulled out of the car today and its not bad
got the lad doing it to change the oil oil filter air filter and a suspension bush aswell. Due to a hurling injury I will be out of action for a while and wont be doing this myself.
All in 180 euro which wasnt bad.

Recently (as in 2 days ago) changed the rear pads on the gtv. However the offside calliper was sticky, but didn't have time to get it off the donor. This was the result to the pad after two days with a sticky calliper.....you can also see how ****e the disk was.

35 euro, both ways, using my friend's one-person transport business. ;)
    is that a vvti box?

That particular one - yes. But if you just change bell housing it would become non-vvti (for example 4E-FE) straight away. :)

But you probably know that already anyway. :o

That's a Very good price. The labour would be more than that here.

Both! I'd say shipping would be double the reconditioning price writ an Irish company!

If you're in real need, I can try to arrange transport and repair (of course will ring the repair guy first to get an estimate cost). :)

BTW - he's not doing auto gearboxes, only manuals.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,721 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

No need at the minute but I may keep that in mind! Cheers. :)

It amazes me how jou and mr fanboi know so much about toyotas, to me they're all the one car, made with all the same parts, It's one of few things that I'm genuinely impressed about on here, it's something I'd never manage to get a hold of

    Yay or nay?

    Before:

    313223.jpg

    After:

    313224.jpg

    313225.jpg

Same colour as entire body, no gloss of course.

And no more interior painting will be done (likely). ;)
