Right old brembo out new brembo in. New ones are split and chamfered.

Maybe old were overheating or something.

    Hope it stops the squeak

Clutch slave broken on my Allegro. Because I'm a cheapskate I tried welding it back together before inevitably giving in and buying a new one...

I welded a new bit onto the slave cylinder for the bleed nipple to go as it had cracked and broken. Let's hope it works if the new slave cylinder I bought doesnt work.

Success! For now anyway, lets hope it holds.

De-tarred and polished about 90% of it. Polished most of the glass too. Ran out of time/light before I could get it finished. Kinda wished I hadn't started as I now know the exact state of all the panels. Ah well - nothing a bit of time, money and tlc won't fix.

Looks well from a distance anyway :D

Hopefully the weather will be agreeable and I'll get the rest finished tomorrow.

Tyres replaced. At last decided to go to spec so 185/65 R14 instead of 185/60 R14. Car looks higher (I don't like it) but speedometer stopped lying (I like it).

    Why?

    Owner's manual says:

    - 165/70R14 (car's been bought with them on rims)

    - 175/65R14 (my winter tyres)

    - 185/65R14 (my summer tyres from now on)

    :)

Gone are most of the cars that had 14's on them. Rare enough to hear of 14s on a car now.

    Modem times its all 15+

    Long live the Corolla!

    I'm really happy I have 14's!

They're cheap - 208 notes (delivered) for 4 tyres rated C (fuel efficiency) + A (wet grip). Considering last set of tyres worn to 1.5mm of tread in 5 months (!)

Tyre wall is very high, so I'm not afraid of driving on rural, bumpy (and full of potholes) roads.

Won't go any bigger than 15 in a foreseeable future. :)

Your right too! Cheapest tyres I can get are circa 110. 245/40/18.
I had 255/35/19 but had to get rid of them for sheer expense and they were horrible wheels! They were 170 a tyre, after 18's it just takes off exponentially!

    2008 BMW e92 M3

    Gladen amplifiers (4ch + 2ch) + Gladen 201 BMW speakers
100% Gladen accessories too. The mid bass drivers under the seats are wired to the 2 ch amplifier directly.
The car will then be coded to HIFI.

The car has the standard sound system from factory (Stereo). No amplifier at all, no tweeters. A very dull sound experience.

Running a new plug and play 4 channels loom all the way to the trunk and new Gladen speakers in the rear panels

This is the right size for those cars, it's what they came with from the factory too.

The speedometer won't be accurate even with the right size tyres, like almost all cars it will over exaggerate the speed a little.

    Today I did this

  • Registered Users Posts: 641 ✭✭✭kilianmanning

Today myself & dgt (mainly dgt) tackled a diesel leak on the diesel pump that mr nct man wasn't too fond of... ;)

Leak was at the back of the pump..

First thing was off with the alternator

    AG71BSN.jpg?2

    :P

    bGZSyHE.jpg?2

Homemade pullers that didn't go to plan unfortunately

    BYlwMHp.jpg?1

    Eventually it came off :)

    7mkREf1.jpg?1

    And the culprit

    pP6AcLR.jpg?2

Problem was the seal had gone hard, this was located under a cover on the back of the pump

    G5Q5obK.jpg?1

Got it all back together anyway & no more leaks :) Now to get the 406s beloved straight pipe back which should cure my boost problem :D

So took a little spin yesterday and among other things picked these up ...

    320508.jpg

    So starting with this ...

    320507.jpg

Mix in some tools, bit of time and some Vanish fabric foam, and end up with this ...

    320509.jpg

I think the bits of red and lighter grey help lighten the interior a bit as it was all black plastic and dull. Either way - I'm happy.

And then just because life is too short to be serious all the time :D ...

Is yours an Irish Saloon E11? Most saloons are the basic Terra model with steel wheels from the factory.

    Yup. :)

Mine was exactly the same. 100% Paddy spec Terra. Just bought a set of new alloys from the web and kept them steelies for winter tyres. Now I have two terras actually - one I'm driving and another one as a donor car - currently almost totally disassembled.

    256433.jpg

And that's old photo TBH. Now it has no suspension at all (actually nothing left under a car).
