Thank you Hal1, I'll take a look/try to get a replacement. Ebay a good bet?

Well, it's not the key or chip belonging to it as such, it's simply a remote that operates the central locking. Programming a key is a very different matter.
The new PCB came with instructions on how to program it. Turn ignition on and off 4 times within 3 seconds. Car beeps twice. Press any key on remote, car beeps again. Turn ignition on and off one more time, it works.
Sadly it doesn't beep for either transmitter. So the car does not receive the signals for whatever reason.

I know I often do key programming and the starting the car bit is usually re programmable to any car using the correct diagnostics. the remote central locking however is generally 1 use only, as in you need a brand new circuit board to re program it to your car.
There are of course exceptions but its worth bearing in mind.

    Something like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-focus-cmax-c-max-interior-light-alarm-sensor-2s7t-15k609-cb-2003-2007-/121608561369?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c506f62d9

I've never changed one so I can't say if a direct replacement will work. It's another gamble but I'd say it's most likely the reason why you can't pair you're fob.

Wait, I'm lying. I have changed the interior light to one with dual courtesy lights from another focus, and everything was fine after I changed it. There was no programming needed either after.

Well, I got the PCB here:
    http://www.ebay.de/itm/151286895204

They have 100% feedback, I don't think they'd get that for selling something that cannot work, so I have to assume it does. They also state all PCB's are tested.
I therefore have to assume that both transmitters work and it is possible to program a second hand one.
Also, having a look at my old PCB, it's in better shape than the new one and all three buttons seem to be in working order.
Just to be sure, I will see if Ford or Lock Doctor can maybe test the old transmitter to see if it works. Or maybe I can test it? I need something that can receive 433.92 MHz.

Put in a battery volt meter, keeping an eye on it as I'm running a few bits with a view to camping trips, trying to decide if a second battery is needed..

I had one like them in my van
Found it was too bright. Burn the ryes out of your head! :) Ended up using it as a glovebox light.

Yeah I haven't run it at night yet, but it's kind of obscured being in a little recessed bit.. so hopefully won't be too bad. For something that cost €2 from China, it'll do fine!

Also fell foul of Liberty insurance today... Renewal quote gone up by nearly €400....

Tidied up front lip and blacked out FMIC again to remove stone chips

I have had the worst day in the history of ever today. The clutch was sticking on the A35, no big deal, my buddy came down and we had planned to sort it easily enough. Nope! Gearbox was seized solid and it just wasn't coming out. It took us two hours to get it out, complete utter ****ing bollox ****ing **** bag of a job, and we put it back on without putting the filter back on, oil went EVERYWHERE. After a few minutes of crying we did manage to get it all back together and now I have a non-sticking clutch.
But hear this, my less than 24 hours old paint has two fairly hefty scratches on the driver's door because of the UTTER **** STAINS that live in my estate. We had gone off earlier for lunch and came back to the scratches in the door. Of course nobody saw anything and the kids playing on the bikes around us were completely innocent. Not even 24 hours old, the paint. ****ing raging.
Sometimes I wonder why I bother.

Wont like your post above Duke, that is unbelievably ****ty. I feel bad looking at it and I have no attachment to it whatsoever. I can't imagine the frustration you must be feeling

Agreed, if you find out who done it give them a world of pain, that's off the scale sh1t man :(

    Thanks lads.

To add even more insult to injury I bust my head on the bottom corner of the door earlier too, literally covered in the oil that had spewed everywhere

There is such scum out there, ye might remember me on about my neighbours car being broken into when it was broken down at the side of the road (passenger window smashed and top of the door bent out several inches). Wasn't until the mechanic went to tow it home that he realised the toe rags stole the battery too! Ohh I hope karma's good to this shower and the shower that damaged your paint Duke!

So I chanced my arm at tinting the back lights, 3rd sheets of tint for 3.50 from China delivered!

OK plenty of air bubbles but it's all a learning curve. :)

Not usually a fan of tinted lights, but given the colour of your car and the location of lights on a punto,I have to say I like the effect (even with the air bubbles:D)

    I commend your restraint.

Was travelling behind a complete tool in a golf with tinted rear lights on Monday - completely useless lights on a sunny day. But hey, in-dur-vidualsness.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,793 ✭✭✭rizzee

First 3 pics of tint on with lights turned off. Last picture shows lights are clearly visible.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭GvidoR

I tinted my lights once. Got a lot of hate about it here. They were a little darker than I wanted them but anyway...

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,793 ✭✭✭rizzee

Fook them, it's your car you can do what you want ;) de-punto'd and quick wash. That's me done for today.

If you can't be convinced to undo the mod from a safety point of view (I agree taste is personal) until NCT time - would you at least consider brighter bulbs for your tail/brake lights?

    Something like these?
    http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/382-Philips-Vision-Plus-P21W-Brake-Light-Bulbs.html

Calling that light output "clearly visible" is a bit optimistic - you're 6 feet away and it doesn't look like it was properly sunny when you took those pics. Maybe just the camera auto adjusting, it can be difficult to pick up colour/intensity of lights properly I suppose.

Are they not legal for a NCT anyway? I had a Grande Punto Van and went through the DOE with full tints on the back.... anyway I understand where you're coming from, there's still a few bubbles there so i'll have to give it a while and if it annoys me that much i'll just remove the tint.

Good idea with the bulbs, I like the look of them :)

Yeah sorry maybe not completely clear, I suppose I meant better than nothing

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,569 ✭✭✭Special Circumstances

I was thinking that if a bulb can be "not orange enough" for NCT that yours wouldn't pass with a tint that heavy. I have no experience of it myself unsurpisingly ;-)

Those puntos are nice in pretty much any colour, but always a fan of black cars.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,793 ✭✭✭rizzee

I actually hate the black believe it or not! :pac: So hard to keep clean. Only bought it as the auld lad was selling it on so got a good deal on it. If I had my way i'd get my old one back :(

Spent 4 hours giving the Micra a "quick clean".

I knew I'd gone too far when the clay and spray bottle came out...

So I had a bit of a fuel leak. No pictures unfortunately as I was trying to beat the rain.

I was getting a small trickle of fuel only when I was filling the car so figured the filler neck was damaged somewhere. Took off the rear drivers wheel and liner. Turns out a plastic bracket holding the neck pipe in place was broken and the pipe was swinging around the place causing it to loosen a bit from the tank. I could see where the leak was using an old fog machine I had from DJ'ing years ago. I have a pic of it. Pushed the hose back into place and put a bit of sealer around it. I cable tied the pipe where the bracket broke so it wouldnt swing around anymore. Hopefully that did the trick.
