    Injectors are not the same, that's what I'm sure about. 4ZZ/3ZZ are grey, 1ZZ - green. 4ZZ and 3ZZ comes with 180ccm and 1ZZ is 260ccm.

    4ZZ and 3ZZ camshafts are the same (13501-22060), 1ZZ different (13501-22041), but I wouldn't insist that significantly enough to be replaced. ;)

    Although the whole argument is pointless, as I'm not gonna go swap anyway. :D

    No argument just discussion.:) You are correct regarding the injectors etc, what I am saying is that the stock injectors work fine, they don't need to be changed to the green ones, car will still run fine and produce decent power and torque compared to the standard 4ZZ.
    That's why its such a simple mod. just plug and play.
    Forget ECU reprogramming and all that stuff just displacement increase.
    The standard 4ZZ is not a bad engine on its own, even today its quite a nice drive for a NA 1.4.

    I wanted to do even more simple mod - 1ZZ intake manifold + throttle body. Not very plug and play, as there's not enough room between manifold and radiator (and few other minor issues to deal with). Failed due to our lovely weather. deszcz.gif

    True again. Aside of that, heard that toyota's ECUs are not easy to fiddle with. Open to corrections though.

    While we're on the topic, I have 4 x 1.4 vvti injectors from an 04 Corolla sitting in the top of my toolbox. They were left over from an engine change I did on the sisters yoke a couple of years ago. Free to a good home.

    Nothing riveting here...

    11 years, it took 11 years for these boys to become functioning. Better late than never though. Went rummaging and found the holders and wires taped up, all I had to do was put them into the slots and pop in the bulbs. It's the little things, made my day having them work so it did. They look well! Must buy some bulbs though, I robbed them from the mondeo reg plate!

    And yes, my brake pedal is in shyte, have a habit of just pressing the corner of it. Mondeo isn't far behind. Need to pop a new set of covers on.

    As far as I know the mk1.5 facelift has them ready to go, not sure about the pre facelift, think it may need the holders. Same thing with the mondeo, bulbs and holders tied up. Ford have a habit of doing them kind of things. It's nice nonetheless to find them out for yourself!

    I got 2x 10w40 and 2x 5x30, which was nearly gone, apparently the Ford stuff is the most popular one. Still had 2 of each left in my garage, so I am truly set for the year. Funny thing, some sources suggest the MX5 will run on the Ford stuff, but the last time I tried it didn't really feel happy with it, so sticking with the 10w40.

    Swapped out the cabin air filter on my wife's 2001 micra. She has owned the car since October this year.

    Given I had to cut out the plastic surrounding the filter, that was the original filter!

    That was the car I drove before I got the Focus. When I was getting my Focus my mum wrote off her Verso so I didn't end up selling it and she drove it until I got the XC90 sorted out. The crankshaft seal on that was completely shot and it was leaking oil badly. I ended up changing the seal and doing the timing belt and tensioners and now she's driving that.

    I decided to keep the Yaris since it's a reliable little motor and anyone in the family can hop into it if needed.

    The Wolfraces are mint though. I bought them off a lad on Adverts with brand new tyres for €100. He bought them for his Clio, put fresh tyres on it and realised they rub the arches :pac: Nice set of Hankooks on them :D

    I lifted the right side so the oil flows towards the sump plug. The ground there isn't flat so I kept it raised a bit when I was filling up :)

    The basin fits in no bother without it lowered :D

    Had a look at the back wiper on the focus (2004) again. Power supply to the motor seemed OK, so took the motor off. I think I've figured out why it won't move!!!
    Is this FUBAR or any suggestions for cleaning it up?

    Hard to tell, all you can do is clean it, drown it in WD40 and see will it move. If it does, smear a bit of grease in it and see will it hold up or crap itself again. Otherwise new motor.
    Clare farm rules apply. If it moves, bate it till it doesn't and if it doesn't, bate it till it does.

    Will leave the wd40 on it overnight and check in the morning

    I reckon it might survive, it tried its hardest to work and could be persuaded to move with some extra force up to summer so fingers crossed.

    Looks fairly knackered to me. No harm in trying though. I got a second hand one from a breakers last year for 30 euro. So if needs be, it's not that expensive to replace!

    I have cleaned worse than that and they came up fine.
    Get some diesel and wash all the rusty old grease out and then free the crank arm up.
    Repack with plenty of fresh grease. I bet it goes for a long time yet if you do that.

    Limited success! Cleaned out the old dirt with a toothbrush dipped in white spirit (all I had to hand), drowned it in wd40, then lube this morning.

    Had to put it back on to get it to move using the wiper arm as leverage (and I was getting grief about the smell of wd40 everywhere), it's moving of its own accord, but a bit juddery.

    Needs a bit more wd40 and grease I'd say but better than it was! To be done when I've the place to myself :)

    Local motor factors didn't have green ones, and wanted €2.50 for clear ones. Nope nope nope. Off to eBay.

    Are you sure the bulb is green?

    Usually it's a clear bulb that has a green rubber sleeve on it. Try to pull it off.
