Picked this stuff up yesterday. Car failed the NCT on CV boot, Track rod end boot, wishbone bushings and rear springs. So instead of trying to source lowering springs i decided to go with a set of budget coilovers. A friend has them in his car and said he has had no problems with them over the last year. So i bit the bullet and went with them. Majority of this will be fitted tomorrow.

Don't they say something about modifications now? Do you need an engineers report?

only problem is i can't get the camera to stick to the glass. it came with a little double sided foam pad and i used that up when it was fitted in my Corolla. i've tried all manner of double sided tapes and foams but none of them seem to stick it, so if anyone has any ideas i'd like to hear them! i reckon the likes of tiger seal would stick it, but i'd like to be able to remove it again if i change cars!

    :pac:

"No More Nails" double sided foam tape is excellent. Won't be too handy to remove though. I use it to hold on DRLs, after previously having cheapo stuff fail on me.

I've used this stuff and still bonding well and good. It would peel the paint if you tried to remove it. Just make sure the surface is clean use a baboíg wipe or some ipa.

    $_1.JPG

I think it was 12mm x 0.5mm vhb gel tape.

So Ford Airside delivered this during the week. Fitted it today.

It's the first zetec-s grille they've ever sold so hopefully I shouldn't see too many like mine around :pac:

Fitted Team Heko Wind deflectors, and canbus LED sides and reg bulbs with nice glow from them, not too tacky

    More pics tomorrow :)

Looks well. Do you have a link to the reg plate bulbs or where did you get them they seem along the lines of what I want not too tacky.

Waiting for LED registration bulbs to arrive myself. I looked at some at the motor factors but the lads wanted €30 for 2 festoon bulbs :o

Ended up buying 2 of them for less than €5 on AliExpress :)

The lower grille looks well though!

Not my car, but helped my friend pull his engine out of his MK2 RS2000 to be sent off for a rebuild.

Really happy how the stickerbombing turned out. The back rim around it is just insulation tape to prevent the stickers from peeling. :)

To be honest with you, I wouldn't do that to my car, but the only important thing is, that you're happy. :)

Ah ya, I knew it would split opinions.. But that's life. I am very happy with it. Turned out better than I thought it would.

Sorted out my fog lights. :)

    23874016674_041f87361b_b.jpg

    More exciting things coming soon.

    24419821591_533d122f9d_b.jpg

Got these 15" Mondeo Si wheels, with the help of polan.

    24375545682_75076b8076_b.jpg

Test fit. I need bigger / alloy wheel nuts to put them on. The wait is killing me. Don't want to get eBay ones either. Ford Dealer wants €65 for a new set but I will get some used OEM ones from a friend for a fraction of that.

I have one of those wheels in the mothers shed. 14" with a good tyre, but the tyre is 10 years old. I'm almost sure I have a handful of genuine unused Ford alloy nuts. Maybe 7 or 8. Yours free if you can organise collection in Dublin. Send me a pm.

Was wondering what that grinding noise from the rear brakes was, disc and pads only new. Had a look on both sides and discs still look brand new and the pads are barely bedded in, looks like it was done last week.
Look at the below picture and find the bolts marked 1

    2010-11-21_201254_carryier.jpg

One of them was missing...:eek::eek:
I have to blame the absolute nincompoop and imbecilic oaf that fitted the pads and discs for not correctly tightening the bolts. That oaf was me. :(

    Coming up:
the hose from the intercooler to the air intake of the engine has split. As they do. That has been a Ford diesel malady since ever. The good thing, it's only 2 screws. The bad news, the hose is something like 60 bucks. Boards REALLY needs a puke smiley.

    Result!

With conversion and shipping it worked out at about €20. A LOT better than from Ford. I'm hoping a hose is a hose is a hose. And it can't be crappier than the Ford OEM part.

Where do you get those info pics from?
They would come in very handy if easily accessible online

Nah, just did a Google image search for Ford Focus rear brake caliper assembly.
I don't need the manual anymore, I've stripped down that entire assembly way too often.
Hint: the piston can be wound back with a sturdy long nosed pliers and a good dollop of elbowgrease. :D

My cousin had to do same on his ford but got one of a Subaru which fitted and was cheaper to buy. He was told it was better made but just have to wait and see

Ford main dealers are so expensive for hoses. I remember one of the shorter oil intercooler hoses was ruptured and leaking on my old focus and even looking everywhere I couldn't find a replacement so ended up having to buy the ford one and fitted it myself it was handy enough to do although I had to take out the headlights to get at it.

But 90 quid for the short bit of a hose I nearly cried and that was including a supposed 20% discount because at this stage I was well known in the parts department :pac: and that's never a good thing.

Hahahahaaaa!!!! I know the feeling! :D I even get the frequent customer discount.
The know me by name when I walk in there "A Hi Doctor, how's things, I trust the missus is well and I hope your cold is better this week".
Same in Halfraud's and 2-3 motor factors.

8 gig? Do they even make them that small? I'd consider 32 gig a standard size verging on the small.

I got it from Hong Kong for under a euro including shipping so I'm not complaining. It'll record about an hour so with it, I haven't checked yet. It'll do for now, will try this for a while and possibly get a bigger one down the line if I need to know.

I bought this pulley-puller for doing the XC90 timing belt a while back:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-580487-Harmonic-Balancer-13-Piece/dp/B000WTPJKA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1453487479&sr=8-3&keywords=pulley+puller

This puller has spent most of the work winding back brake calipers :pac: Stick the black bolt through, lean it against the old brake pad and the pad touching the caliper. The body of the puller gets held by the opposite side of the caliper.

Best 11 quid ever spent :P

If I ever sell the Cmax (if it doesn't implode and anyone is mad enough to buy a car with near 500k km on it), I will give them a link to this thread when they ask for service history...

BMW E46 with 2015 NBT iDrive retrofit from a F25 BMW

We designed and made the screen bezel. The owner, who is based in New Zealand did the rest.

    Sweet isn't?
