Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. If they could get some people out to training and work on some moves then they'll do okay.

They were easily the best bunch of lads we played against all last season, I hope they keep going and can get a proper club up and running.

Good bunch of lads definitely. Short on resources and numbers and distance they have to travel for away games is not helpful for them. Played them a few times, they were short on numbers once and we had few lads jumped over to play on their side.

Hope they can improve and work on boosting their numbers.

15-7 win for Tarf vs Malahide tonight. The Malahide boys were big fellas for the most part and were able to make ground easy enough. Luckily they weren't able to turn that pressure into points. Got my first 10 mins under my belt out on the wing but didn't get my hands on the ball. Still happy enough with what little I did. Wasn't afraid to stick my head into the only ruck that came my way so ill take that positive thank you very much! Even if my technique was crap. Looking forward to more.

How was the intensity levels in the game molloyjh? Was gonna head out but couldn't make it in the end. All things go to plan should be back for Wednesday training... lot of catching up to do, we hadn't even started contact before I got injured! :(

The Malahide boys were a physical bunch. I've nothing to compare it against myself but it certainly seemed to me to be fairly full on. There was a bit if a lack of match fitness which probably meant it wasn't as intense as it could have been but that's about it. There were a couple of big hits in it.

Malachite were their usual selves. Big strong physical hard to take down but wwe'll able to break the line. Defence for tarf was unreal especially in our own 22. Big hits on both sides and one yellow card for malahides prop. A few handbags but all in all a tough physical game which the scoreline suggests.

Malahide not Malachite. Sorry fooking phone no disrespect meant at all pure mistake.....

The last ditch defense on our line at the end was excellent.

For the record I was in no way involved! :D

Unfortunately for me I was... Took a good knock to the nose not sure if it broke but will see I'm the morning if I wake up with black eyes..... Absolutely stellar defence from the whole squad though bodies on the line stuff

Yes the defence towards the end was excellent, really done well holding them up on the line. Solid pressure put on and a good few new fellas on the pitch at the time and done well to keep them out.

There were some good positives were tackling was very good. Also lineout done well. Also after shaky start the scrum was decent so good there. In terms of negatives work to be done there in defence more but basics are good.

We had over 30 players and new guys got some game time so big positive there. League not far away so any game time is good for newer lads.

You can get it opened whenever I think. I got socks on Friday at the last minute by just asking the barman. He opened up the shop for me then and there and got me sorted.

Correct, Paul (The bar manager with the moustach) will open the shop at pretty much any point.

Official opening times are Sunday morning from 10-12, match days when the firsts are playing and they also used to open before training from time to time.

Getting wintery alright, I would not be surprised if there is a distinct drop in people training tonight as a result.

I, unfortunately, will not be able to attend as I strained my neck on Saturday and can't look to the left!

Any sign of the Div 11 fixtures?

Ah just stick on the left wing you'll be grand. :D

Physio says I'm good to go and will be back training on Wednesday... Quite eager to get back training, feels like I've missed loads. Haven't done any contact yet. :(

Just watch Declan when you get back. He's starting to assault the newbies. Got a ball in the face from him today. :D

Sounds similar to the muscles spasm I had in my back. Best to get it dealt with by a physio instead of leaving it to rest like I did :(

Presume at this stage studded boots will be needed for training? Was using astro boots a few weeks ago but we were just doing circuit and fitness?

Bring both and see what suits down there.

Ground still very hard out there. I am using mouldies, astro boots probably wont give you much grip but if you have mouldies or short studs they would probably suit best.

Hopefully should be games for both J4 and J5 this weekend to continue the build up to the start of the season.

First day back and the leg felt good. It helped that the pitch has softened up a bit and it doesn't feel like concrete any more!

My first night back this season. I was happy enough I wore astro runners, It's still a bit hard under foot for longer studs at the minute.

Problem on Saturday will be to risk the astro runners and having someone stand on my toes, which always happens in a ruck, and it's always a player from your own team.

Ha, I'd say you can say good bye to your toes if you're a forward.

My adidas have these silly synthetic kicking zone which runs over your big toes and offers no protection... I've been arsing around on the wing in most practice sessions and still managed to pick up two black nails! :P

Funnily enough I reckon my astro boots offer more protection.. but I thought the ground was fine for studs last night, atleast on the practice pitch as its fairly well worked up by now. The 1st pitch is still a bit firm, so I'll probably bring both on Saturday and play it by ear.

I am a forward, unfortunately. Also the smallest front row forward you're ever likely to see. Most people assume I am a scrum half (that's going by size, not by passing ability :o )

Hopefully joining up in Barnhall tonight, after doing my knee back in April (ACL). Anyone here play there (will be the lowest of the low teams).

Ow, friend of mine is still out after one day of training coming back from an ACL injury...

Well, I did the ACL back in October last year. Got surgery in April. Haven't played rugby since I was 12. Should be interesting.

Take it slow n easy would be my advise. I hadn't played since I was about the same age, and I haven't actually done much fitness in the last 5-6 years because I smashed up my heel. I did myself in after 3 training sessions and was out for a few weeks, mostly because I didn't have the strength in my bad leg and I tried to hard to keep up with the rest of the lads.

Did you do any rehab with a physio for the injury?

Yeah, a good bit, though I'm still on a list of gym exercises that I've to do another 4-6 weeks of. So it's non-full contact training for me until that's complete. Just the fitness, skills side of things, I think, assuming that's alright with the lads down there. Otherwise I'll just doing the gym work and come back when I'm solid enough to get stuck in.

Yeah I'd say you'd get away with that no bother. When in doubt, go back to your physio.

It's great to see all these lads returning to/starting to play rugby. A few years ago the social side of rugby was nearly dead. Looking forward to banging into a few of you this year :-)

I wish this was the case outside of Dublin... Seems a few teams are struggling to field a second team..

I'm sure it's slightly harder for provincial teams with the distances involved, traveling to games would be off putting. Seems to be a positive growth in the schools game around Leinster so hopefully that will over time feed into the clubs.

I think some Dublin teams are also struggling for numbers. Clontarf have done well the last few seasons so thats good. We have plenty of newbies coming in and mixes well with experienced guys. Looking forward to the season ahead.

Except the miserable, dark, cold, wet, trainings we have to look forward to.

Truthfully I prefer training in those conditions rather than it being warm!
