Sound Of Contact : Dimensionaut - debut album from Simon Collins (Phils son) new band.

Bought it the other day and have given it a couple of listens. Really liking it , so much going on .. lots of memorable melodies, excellent technical playing - a very strong concept album - including a 19min epic closer. Apparently John Wesley (of Porcupine Tree's touring band) is also associated with them (although doesn't feature on the album).

There's traces of Genesis (especially in the percussion) , but also current Marillion / Transatlantic / Steve Hackett

Yep, this album is all kinds of excellent. And it's good to see Simon Collins isn't just trading on his auld lad's name, he's a bloody good talent himself.

Gotta agree - been playing it in the car all the time and it's definitely an excellent album. Shades of Phil in there (recognisable drum fills and a startling vocal similarity at times) but don't let that put you off. If this album is a sign of future output, then bring it on......

Been spinning this since it's release. Keeps you going all the way through without dropping off at all. Fantastic playing and composing and they strike the right balance of virtuosity and tasteful playing throughout. Mobius Slip as an album closer, too; immense.
