Kinda sounds like a "how do I crack a password" thread in disguise.

Password for what? Passwords are generally designed so you can only change them if you know them.

if it's yours bring it to a shop and get them to sort it. I'd be wary of giving info that could be used to get into a stolen laptop.

It really is for the cousin. I have a feeling a friend of his may of changed the log in password. I was putting iTunes on his sisters account when it asked me to enter his password

his friend would've had to have his password to change it.

Anyway, you want the Windows forum. And let them know what windows operating system you're running (xp/vista/7 etc).

Also, if/when you sort it, set up an admin account with a password only you know, in case similar happens in the future.

There is a very quick way to solve this, however, as always, proof of ownership by the owner/purchaser is a minimal requirement by anybody in the know on how to sort this. Bringing it to a shop with receipt or/and other paperwork is one way of doing this
