Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not sure what you found to be disrespectful but I do apologise if I caused any offence as that was not my intention.

All I wanted to do is show that yet another one of ours has met the unfortunate end. Every time I see news of this kind it just reminds me of the carnage out there and makes me feel sorry for the families left behind.

Id like to know what the percentage of the 14 were down to other road users causing death or speed/lack of experience of rider. Are figures of this type ever released?

my condolences to all the family's involved. read somewhere that its 4 this weekend alone...... jesus....!

Could of been me yesterday. late yesterday evening, low sun in my eyes, went straight tru a crossroads junction on the back roads towards kilteel. didn't see a sign or even realise... till I was gone tru. **** me if there was anything coming the other way I was brown bread. (total brain fart moment on my part) went back to check if there was a sign and turns out I was on the minor road....

And my mate came off his gpz on Saturday down at the custom bike show in Waterford. just pulling into Waterford all the bikes start to slow down and the first thing I hear is the squeal of the front tyre, then the scraping of metal on the ground . then he passes me out on the ground without his bike. and just as im thinking "oh bollox" his bike slides up cracks off my back wheel. just managed to stay upright. thank fook. worse thing was all he had on was a vest. even though it was relatively slow speeds he feckin ripped the ****e out of himself. and to top it all off another fella we were with was parkin his bike (lovely pan European) on a hill, bike slides forward and pins his hand between the bike and the wall. fooking disaster.... so sorry for the little rant but this biking malarkey is not for the faint hearted. its damn right bloody dangerous.........

    Stay safe lads.....

Probably nothing as real time to analyse those 14 killed this year but there is past info.

This is useful. Shows all collisions by location etc. It will show you where the collision occurec and if another vehicle was involved.

    1997 - 2006 analysis is here
    http://www.rsa.ie/Documents/Road%20Safety/Crash%20Stats/Motorcycle_Report97_06.pdf

There are some very strong patterns in this article which was released recently by the rsa too:
    http://www.rsa.ie/en/Utility/News/2013/ALARM-AT-INCREASE-IN-MOTORCYCLE-DEATHS-/

    "Date/Time
More than half - (52%) – of the fatal collision involving a motorcyclist occurred on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, typically from midday to 6pm.

'...... most common types of collision involving motorcyclists and other vehicles were:

A motorcyclist overtaking another vehicle turning right, resulting in the motorcyclist colliding head on into the side of the turning vehicle. 6 out of 13 motorcycle fatalities were involved in this type of collision this year.

Maybe you could have just said/posted something like "Fatal bike crash in Kerry" as a thread title.

RIP and thoughts and prayers will all involved/connected to this.

....don't worry, you're not the first, and won't be the last.

On a notorious crossroads on my route home, about 1 mile from my house, this happened a few years ago - except it was one of my neighbours on the 'major' road, and it was a car that crossed on the minor one. An entire family in the 2nd car wiped out - parents and 1 x child. They never even knew there was a crossroads, let alone a priority to the other way....... awful.

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
