Sorry... i made a mistake there. I meant setting a custom ringtone from an mp3 not just one of the generic ones. I can set it to one of the built in ones alright but not use her own music. We even downloaded ringtone cutters and there is no option to select the music even after saving it as a ringtone or notification. This was easy to do in the other phone. Anyone know how to set it in this one?

EDIT: Figured out the custom ringtone. You have to use the filemanager app to move the ringtones you want to use into the RINGTONE folder on the PHONE STORAGE. They will then show up in the list of ringtones and you will be able to assign as your default ringtone or if you want to set tones for individual contacts. If you are using MP3 cutter & Ringtone maker app it will save the ringtone files to /mnt/sdcard/media/audio and you will have to move the files themselves into the RINGTONE folder in PHONE STORAGE as well.

I just ordered one for my mother in law. Has anyone seen a cheap and cheerful case and screen protector? (preferably one that won't take weeks to ship from China!)

€24 a pop is a bit too expensive - looking for a cheap silicone one.

I did pick up these screen protectors on amazon.co.uk for a fiver delivered:

I'm somewhat confused as I see people have said it has no expandable memory, yet it's listed here & here as having support for up to 32gb MicroSD?

    Can someone confirm? Thanks!

No it does support SD card expandable memory. My wife's phone has the 16gb card from her old phone in hers. Was it that they said no expandable memory or are you referring to the people who say you can't install apps to the sd card?

How did the rest of ye order one from amazon.fr?

Hey Richie. The one from Amazon.fr does ship to Ireland.

The first one on the link below is the Amazon warehouse deals one. The second one (€179.90) is actually amazon.fr. Mine took nearly a week to ship, but it's on its way.

Bummer - it was appearing as In Stock this morning. I'd order it anyway if you're not in a huge hurry - it will probably come in to stock sooner than that.

I just got a revised shipping date of next week, from the previous 1-2 month deadline!

Has anyone who bought one of these attempted to use toe Dual Sim function?

If so, how does it perform? Can you run both sims at once?

    Thanks

So you can take incoming calls from either network and then choose which to call out on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,225 ✭✭✭JCDUB

Got this in the post today.

Looks good, feels good but it's in Chinese. Not a clue how to change it to English.

Did anybody else have the same problem? And more importantly did you find a solution??

    Thanks

I wouldnt advise that to be honest, it will slow the phone down a lot and wlll only wreck your head in the long run, but tis your phone, sync your fb contacts all you want... :)

Im sure it can be done from the people app (or the acer equivalent) hit the menu button on the people app, and choose what contacts to display, phone, sim and phone, google contacts, FB/Twitter contacts...

Very interested reading this thread as I've got an Acer Liquid Metal and was looking at replacing it. How is the call quality on the E2? The single biggest gripe I have with the Metal is how dull and muffled a phone call can sound. I done want to replace it with another Acer if its going to be the same..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,024 ✭✭✭Owryan

Tbh, I find the sound quality can be a bit muffled if you have the volume turned up fully but any other level is grand. Its a decent enough phone for €200 all the same

If you're ordering this- be very careful that you choose the GSM and not the WCDMA version (they are two different phones- despite the specs suggesting they are one and the same- they most certainly are not........)

Deal Extreme have both versions- see the links at the bottom of the page.

But you are pretty much buying it without any warranty. I don't think you can bring this to an official Lenovo service and have it repaired under the warranty...or can you? Sending it back to China would not be much cost effective either.

I've had the Acer liquid E2 Duo for a few weeks now and am really impressed with it but yesterday its developed a bug where it randomly goes to restart and the Acer logo on a black background fills the screen and then it reconnects to the networks again. Its more like a log off and log on again instead of a full restart.

    Any solution for this?

    Hi everyone,

Until I saw this model I was thinking that there was not anything better than Acer Liquid E2 at its price range. But Lenovo is becoming a better brand and releasing many models, so I guess would result clever to try new brands.

Now, the thing is to compare the customer service between Acer and Lenovo in each our countries.

Acer have a new offer here and the UK- The Liquid S1 for £289 sterling, incl. of VAT and delivery.

Significantly better processor and better specs all round. Yes- its a bit more expensive- but its a damn better phone.

More and more are appearing under €200.

In France, Motorola Razr HD - €159 prepay, and HTC One XL - €199 Prepay

The Lenovo's from China don't have Google Play, and it can be a pain in the ass to put it on. Sometimes it's pretty straight forward. Check that before you buy, if you buy.

    Nokia Lumia 520 - €129 Amazon IT

If you look around, you can find some great prices, I know those examples above aren't ideal, I just used them because they're recent, also the Samsung Ativ S has been down to €190, and many others.
I'm assuming many people are just going for the main four or five phones, forcing many of the others to drop in price. Some move market, but if you browse around you can find them.

Also I don't see any GSM version of the A820?

Also can anyone advise me which of these is the better deal? And if either of them are worth the time.

    Hi,

At first look the Jiayu model presents better processing capacity, screen and price. However, the P780 has better battery and a bit larger screen.

A key element to compare both models is its networks configuration. The G3ST does not specify if it works applying the HSDPA protocol, so the 3G can work slowly.

    Regards.
