    Sudden Thought:
If this game had the Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor which would affect your standings with the rival tribes and gangs and so on, then this would be the greatest game ever.

Anyway, I spent today cleaning house around Jeet's territory and moved into Gutgash's too. Story can wait, I have min-maxing to do! :D

After having spent some time on this at the weekend I am very impressed with it especially given the price I paid for it. I really enjoy the hand to hand combat which is no surprise since I enjoyed it in the arkham games. if you didn't like the combat in those you probably won't like it in this. I have done very little of the story yet I'm just running round grabbing scrap and taking over bases to build up my magnum opus and max. Having said that on the two occasions I went to griffa I had 14 and 7 points to spend because every time I set out to go somewhere I get distracted by something else and go off in another direction.

The only problem I have had with the game is the driving and that isn't because it's bad it's simply because I am still very new to keyboard and mouse and it takes some getting used to but I'm getting there now.

Cracking game and I'd highly recommend it even without having seen much of the story at all.

Doing something similar myself, need to finish off the place north of Jeets then I might continue the story a little bit :P

X on pc to do the same.

Another one that threw me was the Information from wastelanders going into your "Log Book". Couldn't find the f-ing thing. Seems it is in "Encounters" on the Pause screen, and you need to hit enter to open it up to see each one individually.....

Would be great if it were to open up to mods.

A nice over-saturated ENB would do nicely and stopping wreckage's disappearing when you turn the camera away from them (burning wreckage right beside you poofs into thin air sometimes).

Only about 6 hours in, but really enjoying it. Like others, i'm picking up as much scrap as I can, pulling down scarecrows etc etc before going to 'The Jaw'. Nearly sh*t meself the first time a storm hit, I had the headphones up nice and loud.....

I use a controller on games like this, just more relaxing and easier than learning/remembering the keyboard layout. But hey, I'm a lazy git;-)

Haha well I did consider that but I couldn't be bothered ordering an adaptor for my x360 wireless controller and not spending the money on a wired one when I have the steam controller on pre order.

Also found it quite a good way to get used to kbm in general for gaming and I'm alot better now than I was at the beginning when I actually thought god I hope I don't have to drive too much in this :pac::o:o:pac:

I wouldn't say I'm half bad at it now. Managed to win a couple of races and generally stay on the road. Only thing I haven't tried since a very early ill fated attempt was taking down a convoy on the supply routes.

Once you upgrade your Harpoon to remove wheels, Convoys aren't too hectic. I sorta forgot about using the shotgun on red tanks too, I think I was too busy thinking "I need to take all these down and get their scrap" and not "I need to get these feckers out of the way so I can trash that truck and get the ornament!"

So I left my game logged in Jeets stronghold while I was at work... Only have 4 or so bases.

Only got 1300 scrap in 9 hours :(

And I also drove my first convoy back to base without destroying it, lol

Haha yeah I'm very wary about using the shotgun due to limited ammo. I usually just use the harpoon to pull people out of the cars but too many in a convoy for it to be effective even with reduced reload times.

Haha that's terrible. I'm getting 120 scrap every time at the minute and just did another base so should be 130 now. I also noticed there's a project you can build in a stronghold that gathers scrap while your offline.

Tried it last night. PC has to be on, but logged out. Got 80 scrap for 6 hours....

So its good then? Im looking for something to fill the Witcher 3 voids and MGS V seems to be just more Far Cry 4 style stunning graphics/pure tedium.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,405 ✭✭✭Lone Stone

i tried that today stayed logged in in a stronghold thought when i come back after dinner and watching narco il be a scraponair but got feck all, must have some anti gimping thing to stop you doing that.

whats the point in collect cars like you cant upgrade them or anything ?
im just starting gust something or other stronghold the one after jeet, done everythingggg in jeets areas was fun as feck. im fairly ****e when it comes to car combat i just speed past them when i try to ram them and stuff.

I think you need to have them to race them?

if ye get one of those scrap wagons, it's worth about 1k scrap if you manage to get it back to a stronghold too

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,750 ✭✭✭john the one

Just put in 4 hours, man the vehicles are clunky!

But I'm still having great fun. It's a little buggy but hats off to WB for a fine game and cheap price

Good to know its not worth focusing on then. Might have to just let it run at some point when I get a good few more bases.

Good tip thanks. I've only taken one of them back so far usually just ignore them to carry on with whatever I'm doing.

So I went home from work, turned this on and dragged myself away from it late.

Never went near the upgrade guy for ages. Big mistake. Upgrades are massive. I don't like that you have to spend all of them when you visit him. But thats a small gripe.

I have nearly completed Jeets area. Probably 3 more bases and a dozen scavenging locations. Convoys are actually really easy once you get 5 shotgun shells as you just blow up the escorts tanks, and chase down the leader.

I am really impressed. Game is beautiful [playing on i7-4790K&GTX97-0]. Combat is fun.

Other small gripes I would have though:
Sometimes clearing a place 100% is a pain in the h*le. Finding the last scrap or insignia can be annoying as f*ck.
It would be nice if somehow cards were highlighted as not being in your collection, so you could reef out the driver, rather than blowing it up... Although I suppose if you get in, it tells you it is new.....

I haven't found them to bad in that regard actually. I just make sure to check every room/area and usually find them all. Haven't missed any yet anyways.

There've been a couple of places where I just got fierce frustrated looking for that last bitta scrap or insignia and said "feck this."

Made a big mistake last night when taking down a convoy - harpooned the driver out of the truck and thought I'd drive it back to the base intact cause I thought it might have been one of the cars on the list. Nein :( No scrap for it, no hood ornament, Convoy not passed and "This car is not Collectable" or some such message on the screen after parking in Jeet's. So lesson learned - BLOW THE CONVOY UP! :D

On another note and staying with the dog theme, does anyone know how to get Chum's Buggy to quick travel? PAin in the ass actually having to drive to minefields...

You can't. Any time you fast travel you end up in the Magnum Opus.

For those still early in the game and doing what I did (clearing each area before moving into the next), just a heads up. I have Max fully upgraded, all armour, skills, etc. Once you reach Road Warrior level, it keeps leveling that up but no tokens. I'm currently level 29 Road Warrior and I'm only halfway through Pink Eyes territory.

Also, keep an eye on the Opus upgrades. I had everything unclocked on the car, but she was driving like a truck because without the V8 she's too heavy.

This is one of those games where you can get easily distracted too. Have to say, I've gone from thinking this is a good game to a great game. While I don't have the excitement of looking forward to playing it, when I do play it I'm sucked in. I'm putting it down to the fact that there's always something to work towards aside from the story.

I also recommend to build the scrap collectors project in each territory first, saves you having to stop to pick up the scrap from destroyed cars. Also, get the armoury sorted too, free ammo refill each time you visit a stronghold.

I have all of Jeets and Gutgashs territories done, except for a single piece of scrap in each area which I'm guessing is bugged, because they just cannot be found!!!

I agree the game is so distracting. I think right I'll play for 30 mins and clear a few bits then 3 hours later I'm still running round gathering scrap and ripping people out of cars. Speaking of god I can't wait to finish work and go home and fire it up again.

Hahaha. This is exactly what I was thinking. I even asked my boss to knock off a few hours early as I did some crap at the weekend, but turns out I have a meeting @ 16:30.
    A**hats. :P

Sucks. I know I can't leave before 5pm on the dot and hopefully then not get caught in all the extra traffic with schools open again etc... I might be in game by 6.30 fingers crossed.
