Acrobatic Gymnastics (Olympics)

    Anyone else feel that acrobatic gymnastics should be introduced into the Olympic considering it was the first type of gymnastics!!

    And it's always a crowd pleaser!

    Yes! But they will make the teams smaller still in artistic to do so...

    Acro is being introduced to the inaugural European Olympics so that's a step forward

    I would like to see Acro in the Olympics, but that's really the FIG's decision, not the IOC's. As I understand it, the IOC simply votes on allowing gymnastics as a category in the Olympics and sets a limit on the number of competitors, while the FIG determines what types of gymnastics gets in. Right now it's artistic gymnastics, trampoline and rhythmic. In lieu of making artistic teams smaller, I'd rather just see rhythmic and trampoline dropped. Rhythmic has too many judging issues (almost the entire rhythmic FIG committee was suspended recently for cheating) and trampoline seems almost too specialized. I say let Acro in - I think it could end up being almost as popular as artistic gymnastics.
