    Biathlon and Canoe Events ~ Roundwood Festival 2013

    The Baby Beast Biathlon will take place in Roundwood Village on Friday the 19th of July.
    Registration opens from 6pm at Roundwood Parish Centre. Race starts at 7pm outside Byrne &
    Woods & Kavanagh’s Vartry House with an 8km road cycle around the Vartry Reservoir ending at
    Roundwood AFC’s Vartry Grounds on the Bray Road. Here the bikes are racked to begin the 3km
    off road run. Then back to the bikes for the final 8km cycle around the Vartry Reservoir again to
    finish at the Coach House, Roundwood. Prize giving will take place after the race in Roundwood

    Canoe race on the Lower Vartry Reservoir
    The first ever official canoe race on the Lower Vartry Reservoir opposite the Filter Beds will take
    place at 5pm on Saturday 20th of July. Registration opens from 4:30pm at the start point near the
    Filter Beds. Open to all ages from 13 years up (13 – 17 years olds with parental consent). The race
    will be 1500m in length. Canoes and safety equipment will be provided. Due to the risk of water
    contamination competitors cannot bring their own canoes/kayaks. Prize giving will take place after
    the race in Roundwood village. For further information please call 087 2551579.
