You know what would have been great, a Judge Dredd game like that, rather than the Alien 3 derived game we got instead.

I'd love if they made a Judge Dredd scrolling beat em up/shooter, kind of like The Punisher!

The Judge Dredd videogame wasn't bad at all if you were a fan of 2000AD. A non fan probably wouldn't enjoy it as much, but I really got a huge kick out of it as a kid :)

Bare Knuckle 3 is a far better game than SoR3. It's amazing what adjusting the difficulty level can do to near ruin a game. SoR3 is just crazy I think you take 4 times as much damage and enemies take twice as much damage.

Blame the rental market at the time.

    From HarecoreGaming101; worth a read.

Even if you couldn't get past the monotony of the original Streets of Rage, you'll find a lot to like about part 2. For starters, the action moves along at a much quicker pace, which alone leads to a vastly superior title. As opposed to the overly similar cast of the original, each character has a vastly different feel to them, and the movesets are more character specific. There are many more attacks for each character, which makes fighting seem far less repetitive. Especially important is the introduction of specials (double tap Forward & attack), which makes it much easier to take on multiple foes at once. Instead of the fire bomb from the original, each character has two of their own Final Fight-style crowd control moves that are performed at the cost of a little of your health. You can even hurl your weapons at people, and each character has their own speed, range, and strength for weapon attacks. Enemies aren't as hesitant to fight this time, which also greatly improves the pacing of the game.

Don't get him started, we all make mistakes ;)

Nice set, but my god is that expensive!

Not sure how I feel about the alternative ending being mentioned - I'm not really a big fan of alternative endings. Always think there should be one definitive end. When you start making alternates it makes each one less believable.

Kind of hard to speculate seeing as we don't even have one ending yet :pac:

Aye, especially as I already sub to Netflix! I've been watching the show with herself since the beginning so it's just part of the weekend ritual at this stage to watch it over in her place. So I'm normally a few days behind everyone else, & getting so close to the end now the anticipation is immense!

Argh, how will they end it!? :D

Ahhh, I see! Happened to me yesterday morning to a lesser extent. Off home, missus in work, new ep comes on netflix...but I was nice enough to wait for her to come home to watch it. Aren't I lovely :D (almost gave in to temptation about midday!)

Really haven't a notion how it'll all end. Only three episodes left too and it feels like there's still so much story to tell!

The actor who plays Hank, Dean Norris is in another series that's aired recently called "Under The Dome". Its rubbish really but he plays a guy who's the polar opposite of Hank, really corrupt. Its a Stephen King series based on his book, a small town gets covered over by a big dome and they can't get out.

Supposedly Vince Gilligan is going to make a spinoff with Saul Goodman, with those two involved I`ll definitely be watching it!

Well that issue can nearly be applied to all King's books. The 'classic' It, goes way off the edge at the end.
His Dark Tower series has the this problem spread out over the series, so starts well and goes bat**** crazy at the tail-end.

Almost everything tv relegated that King is involved in has the same problems and most films as well. The Shining is the best adapted Of King's work and Kubrick really but his own stamp on that and King didn't agree with it.
The Green Mile, Stand by Me and Shawshank in my view are exceptions as the 3 have little to no horror or fantastical elements and are also much shorter works.
Tommyknockers had me scared ****less as a child and I only ever saw the ad.

I have been reading the Dark Tower series over the year and have really enjoyed them.
I have read his time travel novel, the title escapes me, and it was fantastic.

As for the best adaptation of his work, Green Mile was wonderful as was Shawshank.
But the best of all was The Mist, an incredible film with quite an ending, and a different ending to the original, better in fact.

King really shines in the short story format, brilliant stuff to be found in his collections, and they lose that epic, drawn out flavour that can irritate.

I'm not detecting any sarcasm there, The Mist a good film? It was complete rubbish with a ridiculous shock factor ending. And better than Shawshank Redemption or The Green Mile? I'll have a batch of whatever you're smoking please! :pac:

Haven't read a King book since my teenage years but my favourite was The Talisman, don't think it was ever made into a film though.

I liked The Mist, I wouldn't rank it alongside Green Mile/Shawshank now, but still, found it prety good. The ending really hit me like a ton of bricks, I didn't see it coming at all!

While I enjoy the GoT TV series it's vastly over rated by people and is far inferior to the books (which are a bit over rated themselves). The script is just really poor and you have to have one hell of a poor script to make Aiden Gillen seem like a bad actor. They really ruined his character in the series. In the books you are never sure what side he is playing. In the series he's an evil bastard through and through and explains it himself in a god awful monologue scene in the first series while two women go at each other for no reason other to get some lesbian action on screen.

They only thing I'd wish is that we got to see the business end of Project Arrowhead, breaking into Todash space and the disaster unfolding.

In all seriousness, I've no problem with nudity in shows.
It doesn't shock me in any way. I've watched Spartacus (entertaining enough, not TV gold or anything) and I do watch GOT (entertaining enough as well).

There are some shows I watch for entertainment (see above), and some because they are gods damn awesome (Breaking Bad). I just don't over analyse it like some people, its all entertainment, some good and some just ok.

Exactly. Its just entertainment pure and simple.

Some TV shows do seem to trigger rabid postings more so than others - Top Gear being a good example, after every episode various fora will have people raving/ranting on about it as if it show owes them something.

Make me chuckle on the inside to see people get so wound up about something so non-consequential as an entertainment TV show.

I have no problem with sex and nudity in TV shows, I just find them hard to take seriously when you have scenes like that stuck in purely to titillate the audience.

I guess it all depends what the aim of the show is.

I've no problem with it at all but when it's gratuitous like that and has no real significance in the story then it's really just there to increase the ratings and it's pretty much just awful writing. It's a bit like the whole dream/rape sequence in Heavy Rain, it's only there to show the bewbs and has no narrative influence at all.

    Other way around ;)
The developers of the Half-Life video game series, which also deals with creatures from parallel dimensions breaking through to ours, have listed The Mist among their primary influences for the game plot. The first game in the series was originally going to be called Quiver, as a reference to the Arrowhead base from The Mist.

the time travel SK book mentioned was probably 11.22.63, that was a good read too. Pretty much have read/own the entire SK collection (I know :o)

The newest addition is Joyland, which I'm halfway through and is so far one of his better ones. Endings in SK books seem hit and miss but usually the journey makes them almost redundant. Like under the dome, I hated the ending but still really enjoyed the book. The dark tower without spoiling anything I really enjoyed. Haven't read the newest addition (through the keyhole) but apart from book 5 iirc I loved it, one or two of the books in the series really were beyond mental, overly so and kind of blemished an otherwise awesome story :)

His short storys and the collections of them are the gems. Things like The Body (stand by me) and Carrie hit a lot harder than the longer stuff like Liseys story or Duma Key. So what I do to find the gems is.... read em all lol

Totally agree with this. I have no problem with explicit content - have sat though Shortbus and In The Realm of tht Senses without being in the slightest bit outraged - but Game of Thrones, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire and a few other HBO shows - even back to the Sopranos - seem to have some ridiculous gratuitous nudity target they have to hit. I'm all for more intelligent and mature content on television, but really in all those cases it's more ridiculous and immature than progressive.

As for GoT itself? It's absolute trash dressed up in high production values. Sometimes very, very entertaining trash, it should be said, certainly worth a gander. But I'd put it well down the list of great shows on TV at the moment. Still haven't gotten around to series 3, mind.

    ****ing amazing theme tune though.

Have decided to rescan my whole collection and create a blog to share them with the world. Better than festering in the closet.

This may take some time. (also might help generate a few more sales!)

Very rough at the moment. Just threw up a few pieces from a sequence towards the end to generate some content.
