Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You can always draw more magic but using magic and summons is the wrong way to play ffviii. Just draw a tonne of magic and junction it to your stats and you'll breeze through the game. Also prioritise learning the stat percentage skills gf's have and you'll get stat +1 skills which will make you an absolute monster.

That's pretty much how I'm playing it this time round, and so far it's going pretty well. The GFs are pretty much being used for leaning various abilities. I'm loving the status attack junction. If a second GF can lean that too, that would be incredible. However different magics seem to junction better to different stats, and I just filed up on every magic I could find. So I could do with getting rid of some of them to replace with better magics. I don't fancy ****ing each one out individually in battle though. It'll take forever.

There's a limit to how many different types of magic you can carry so it's worth learning abilities for converting lower level magic to higher level ones.

I didn't realise that could be done. I thought those abilities refined magic into items of some description. 30pm get on that. Cheers, man.

So Amazon are refusing to ship a replacement item(original never arrived) for me to Parcel Motel UK as they say that 7 items have been lost by Parcel Motel this week alone and its been going on a while they say.
They want a proper home or work address for my order. Anyone had this issue with them yet?
    Hello,

Sadly Parcel motel are becoming notorious for losing parcels, we have had in the last week 7 parcels go missing, and some of these were signed for and tracked items. (Note many companies are having issues with them.)

We would advise you to check again with parcel Motel, or provide us with an alternate address for us to ship to.

I've only had one issue with them recently where the Royal Mail failed to deliver something to them and it got returned to sender.

Doubt that was Parcel Motel's fault though and the only issue I've ever had with Parcel Motel.

I must admit, I've been wary of using Parcel Motel for fear something expensive would be lost. What is their policy on lost parcels?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,244 ✭✭✭MrVestek

Also is it not up to Amazon to prove that it was delivered?

I've never had a parcel go missing with them yet, a few bits arrived from them in the last few weeks too. "Notorious for losing parcels" sounds quite strong, 7 missing parcels out of how many in total I wonder.

I've been using them mostly for pharmaceuticals recently. Everything has come through fine.

Fecking Pharmacies here want €38 for just 2 pills, they're just £6.30 for 2 on Amazon.

Isn't the importation of pharmaceuticals from overseas illegal? :o

That's where Parcel Motel come in.

I have a prescription for Ireland and it's prescription free in the UK.

Probably need to go through about 6 a month, no way I could afford that on the prices they want to charge here.

All joking aside, I get a few bits from UK Pharmacies the odd time and sent over here. The price difference can be quite huge on some items, and that includes prescription and non prescription things. They will take an Irish prescription on the proper UK Pharmacy sites and charge you UK prices for those of you who are not aware.
I'm pretty sure I cant link to any of the websites here but they are not the dodgy kinds of sites you might think.

My Mam regularly goes away on cheapo Spanish holidays throughout the year. Over the counter prescription meds ftw!

Fiancé has scoliosis in her back so it really comes in handy not having to pay stupid money for diaphene tablets and the likes.

I have yet to ask her to pick up some chewable morphene...

Perhaps there's complaints from vendors who could profit from exorbitant shipping rates to Ireland, being circumvented by Parcelmotel.
I've never had an issue with any item sent to the service.
Do Amazon have the right to refuse to deliver to a UK address?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

I'd just give amazon your address but say to them that you're not paying extra for shipping as it's not your fault they won't deliver to parcel motel.

All it takes is Amazon or Ebay to block the pm address and we're back to the days of getting shafted on shipping charges. Individual sellers may refuse to ship to the pm if they lost enough packages over time. I have used pm about seven times and always found the service exceptional when compared to An Post delivery times, it's normally 48hrs for pm, when it goes through An Post it's at least a week and a half. I hope they sort out their problems for everybody's sake.

I have a feeling that Amazon could be spoofing on this one to be honest with you.

I have no problems with PM at all, never had any issues.

Infact once I had a parcel that was too big to get into a box so they rang me and organised to courier it to me directly. So seems like they kind of give a sh1t

Alas I couldn't do it on my own, manhandling a 29" Trini up a Staire is not only impossible to do alone, but potentially lethal if it falls down on you :o Though I did have a Bruce Willis moment when lowering it back down outta the attic, rope tied around the chassis/frame, one arm holding the rope, the other arm balancing my descent :D Never lifted a tv as heavy as those things, & they're so bulky you just can't get a decent grip

At the last beers Retro planted the idea of a ps with hdd mod in my head. Thinking about picking one up as my ps2 is on it's death bed and only reads certain disks. Price wise anybody an idea of cost, there's one for sale on another site but what's a good price. Some of you may have seen it,

Chipped Pal ( German ) Playstation 2 - No idea what chip it is but it played imports and ;) PS2 games fine. Has a Network adapter with it and a 200 gig HDD.

PS2 comes boxed and complete with Composite and Component Cables, Power lead, 2 x Official 8 Meg Mem Cards, 5 Dual Shock pads ( 1 clear 4 black ) and an official sony multitap for some 4 player fire pro action icon_pubjoe_wink.gif

They're kinda worth whatever people are willing to pay for them, same with any modded consoles...it's hard to price them really. A boxed, chipped PS2 with network adapter & a hdd...I'd hazard a guess at in or around €100/€120ish?

Hey MerlinNow, I'm sticking my order in to arcadeforge for that bartop kit if you want in at the end of the week. He said he'd do shipping at 20 euro for my stuff(few extras and modified wood cuts etc) so prob not too much extra shipping for a standard kit.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,096 ✭✭✭✭the groutch

was tempted to get one of those kits, but my DIY skills would be at the standard of a Homer Simpson spice rack.

Ah its a bit different, my cabs are neglected out in the shed unlikely to ever be used much at all. A bartop, maybe even with a syncstrike thingy, would at least allow me to bring the arcade games indoors albeit in smaller form :o

Heh, yeah, if I had the space Keithgeo's setup is what I'd aim for. Content enough with two cabs though. Just have to get them running side by side! Really makes the experience more arcade like.

Nintendo has opened an online store in the Uk that actually ships direct from their stock rather than linking to other vendors and it looks like the place to get some limited edition bundles without paying over the odds.
Free UK delivery as well (hello parcel motel).

I just got a new appreciation for old school coders. Spent the day figuring out the maths behind faking 3D in 2D like they do in the SNK fighting games. The difficult part is not letting the scaling mess with your scrolling routine, you'll end up with either chunks of the level cut off or else outside of the level showing. The maths involved was a bitch to work out but I got it in the end.

Wow, blasphemy law enacted in After Hours. I've seen it all now.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057057845

I can completely understand they want to cover themselves legally (I've been around long enough to witness this type of thing and have always 100% fully backed them) - but this is beyond ridiculous.

In the words of Voltaire;"To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize."

Not just After Hours, the site in general. The laws that were pushed in are ridiculous and unmanageable, but they are the laws.
