Soccer Manager - Manager of the Season - Season1

Guys,

OK, I'm aware there was little interest in voting for MOTM every few weeks,so lets try doing it different:

1) I thought it might be worth doing MOTS(Season) awards ...
2) I thought we do a 'unanimous vote' as happens in the real world

Vote for your choice for 'manager of the Season' from 'The Boards.ie League' - only active managers in the league's votes will count.

Just complete the below with manager, players names, signed with what team you manage yourself and send to me via PM.

Vote for the MOTS in the league you play in and then vote on the novelty/transfer across the 4 divisions

People can give reasons for their choices or they can decide not to, either way ... SEND ME YOUR VOTE BY PM.

I'll start collating the results a week after the season ends, so closing date for votes is August Th.

Disclaimer:
Only votes received by PM will be considered, any vote posted here wont be taken in account, they will just give people a flavour of who people are voting for but will carry no weight in the final reckoning.

Could we edit the vote so Division 1 managers only vote division 1.division 2 vote only division 2 etc and everyone vote's on the funny awards's???

Good point, if people dont have an objection to this we can do this,

people in D1 vote on MOTS for D1, D2 vote for D2 and so on ...

The novelty and transfer awards are available to all

Least then lads from say division 1 who may not follow division 4 clearly won't spoil by the vote by just picking the team that wins the league..

Tonight at a packed Gala Dinner in Monaco the winners of the respective Categories were announced.

PLAYER AWARDS

In the "Most 'wanted' Player: (generated huge interest amongst mgrs)" there was a clear winner even if there was one or 2 eye brow raising vote in ths category. "Lazio's Short list" and " Heskey" both got one vote each but the top 3 here was as follows:

Next was the vote for "Worst Transfer of the Season: and there was no surprises in this category, so here's the top 3:

Again for the "Best Transfer of the Season:" category there were few surprised as to who won the category in question:

NOVELTY AWARDS

After a brief interval, during which the Real Madrid and Sunderland Managers professed their undying admiration and love for each other (must have been the free flowing red wine with the meal), procedings moved onto the "Novelty Awards: (****s and Giggles Awards)".

The first award to be announced was the "Hoarder of the Season:" and the Dortmund manager was visibly upset at hearing he missed out on the coveted award, which went to Juventus.

Next was the least wanted award for the managers as this clearly meant you were in the close but no cigar mould of manager, the "'Unluckiest of the Season for Season1 went to Chelsea, however Hamburg were pipped to this award by 1vote.

For the "Moaner of the Season" award there was an awkward moment when the Sunderland manager moaned a rigged vote had deminished his chances of winning anything at the awards, was forced to apologies to the room while accepting his well earned trophy

Newly crowned "Wheeler Dealer of the Season", Lazio, was in the Casino lobby trying to sign the receptionist as next seasons masseuse ... Lazio, your throphy can be collected as SM headquarters.


For the final awards of the evening, every manager in the room checked their pocket for the acceptance speech ....

MANAGER AWARDS

The "MANAGER OF THE SEASON - S1" winners were as follows:

In Division 3 there was the un-precedented scenario of multiple managers getting 1 vote each :rolleyes:

Division3: Olympiacos, Spartak Moskva, Velez, Sao Paulo

Division4, 2 and 1 were more straight forwards with one clear winner per division:

Division4: AZ Alkmaar
Division2: Newcastle United
Division1: WBA

Congratulations to all winners.

As a foot note, "The Sun" had an interesting back-page story in which it claims that the Sunderland and Real Madrid managers continued the bro-mance and were seen leaving the Real managers hotel room the next afternoon.

Also, gots to say once more great stuff to Mac for organizing the whole thing, first thread I lookat in the morn and last at night!!!


If next season is anything at all like the first I can see people going into cardiac arrest at points during the season! other managers that put the effort into the game and indeed the thread, keep it going, important the interest keeps up and upward we go!!!

Thanks to GT for running this and thanks to everyone who voted, let's hope even more do after next season.

Btw. I have to say I was quite surprised to see Matri getting a vote for the worst transfer, he may only have got 2 goals and 2 assists for me in 10 games but a 90 rated striker for just over 20m is a bargain in this league imo

I couldnt believe Otamendi got joint second in the most wanted category ... sure there was only like a million people trying to buy him from me when he was mine?!!? Not!

People offered more to the external team than I wanted when I sold him externally ... 2 p/e later and he's back at FCP
