Fool an installer?
ppshay
If I want to install a program on Windows 2000 but the installer looks for XP or later can I fool the installer into thinking the computer is running XP?
I tried changing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProductName from Microsoft Windows 2000 to Microsoft Windows XP, but no joy.

It may not be possible, but in the meantime these might give you an idea what the installer is up to :
( one keeps an eye on files , the other keeps an eye on registry - loads more things out there but these are easy)
