Jon, I think you're being a little harsh. Joe is beginning to feel the pain too, his (hardback) buke has dropped from €19.99 to €1.49

Not bad value alright. Sure a pack of firelighters will set you back €1.80 and you,ll only get a few days out of thrm in the winter.

A couple of Christmasses ago whilst in Waterstones in the Jervis Street Shopping Centre I moved all copies of Bartholomew's buke to the "True Crime" section. Took a few trips and a few mins but worth it for the giggles and the photo it gave me. :)

I think John Creedon did it for a while too

Didn't Evelyn O'Rourke do it for a brief period too?? It was even worse that her doing the "what it says in the papers" slot on Morning Ireland.

It was funny listening to morning Ireland about the Paddy Larkin 1913 Lockout celebration in town on Saturday

the message at the end was that

"Officials stress that Dublin City centre will not be closed on Saturday and businesses will remain open"

you could not make it up:)

There's only so many champagne socialists in the country and not all of them could give a toss, let alone get to Dublin. :)

The only ones who seem to give a toss about this are the 100,000 euro plus merchants not the working class

Larkin would be delighted with Ireland 2013

People do the same with the Blair and Bush autobiographies all the time, i'd say the staff find it tiresome

The irony of that statement is that given Emperor Duffy's salary, lack of perspective and real-world experience, he could concenievably believe that those on €100,000 are the most disadvanted and the most vulnerable. :D

Methinks that St Michael's House are orchestrating the parents to fight this battle. The well-paid admin people in St Michael's should be out front on this on behalf of the parents. Lord knows, they have a case.

Seriously should stop posting but is any group not 'the most vulnerable in our society'? Seriously hackneyed phrase at this stage.

This guy feels bad about calling his sister (in her forties) a kid... I think he should have a word with the people putting that Woman's Heart ad on the radio... "The GIRLS  are back.. "

The government havn't targetted services for people with disabilities. The government has targetted the HSE and its the HSE who are making the cuts. Don't let a bit of truth get in the way of a good rant.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,054 ✭✭✭✭neris

they could set up a new show for all these cuts and most vulnerable.

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,886 ✭✭✭✭Roger_007

St Michaels sent vague letters to all the parents saying they might have to cut services but were not specific about who might be affected. This of course prompts parents to call Liveline etc. etc. How cynical was that?

It does amount to the same thing though really.

But this guy is talking about targetting politicians, when he should be targetting the management in St Michaels House. The Government has reduced their funding by 1 million, but I bet all their salaries are going to be the same after the cuts. The administrators and office managers will all be unaffected wage wise.

Again the HSE get away scot free.

Should all these bodies not link up? Carers' Association, St Michaels House etc -surely there's loads of duplication of services and admin etc? Or am I being cynical in thinking there's a lot of protecting of patches going on?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,564 ✭✭✭baldbear
