We went on a holiday paid for by other people and called it a charity venture

Hang on a minute, he just said they realised Kazakhstan have no roads, and he says they waited by the road, and saw this guy coming towards him on the road. I smell a rat.

    "Khazakstan has no roads".
Ah, just like some parts near me.

He'd been trying to sell them on the whole journey I'd say.

Now this is a real random act of kindness.

I have mixed feelings about the lads funding a road trip off a charity.

No way they should have been; all the funds raised should go to the charity and the journey itself should be funded by them out of their own pockets.

If they had filmed it, they could have made serious money out of it, but just heading off, with the money raised in the back pocket was not the way to do it.

Anyone want to fund my forthcoming trip to New Zealand.... excess cash will be given to some hospital or whatever.

We don't know the ins and outs, maybe Im being quick to criticise them, but even if they did raise the money for the trip themselves would it not have made more sense to donate the cost of the trip to the charity as well? I doubt you would see change in 4 grand for a trip like that and in the end they raised 10 grand.

I've been approached several times for contributions towards funding a venture of that nature. As soon as it becomes obvious they want to use donated money to fund the journey they get told to feck off.
    There's a fairly simple line.

If the RTE board of directors were controlling post offices there would be no problems with continuity......just get in a relative to run it

unfortunately unfortunately unfortunately... I hate the way politicians have hijacked the work unfortunately, as it affords them a way out of directly saying that they disagree with something... It's very, very, very..:mad:... unfortunate.. :)

I'd watch something like this before the soaps/xfactor/master chef type stuff, especially if it was Irish as opposed to Charlie (?) who has been riding his bike all over the world

    Ditto.

Last one was a 22yr old d4 type chick.
About 5,4" 50kgs max..... looking for money so she & her buddy could build houses in Cape Town.

I asked her what block-laying experience she had.

    Unsuprisingly... none.

But PBH listens to the callers, he gets to the point of the story quick, doesn't let them waffle on as much, also actually seems to respect the people he's talking to!
