The people who want the state to ban things for everyone are the first to cry nanny state when it affects them or becomes irrational.

Arthur's Day is declining in popularity from what I can see. The investment from Dee-adj-Gio has declined each year and the quality of the acts has deteriorated each year accordingly.

But that doesn't suit Joe's argument so he'll just ignore those facts as usual.

Ah, June Rodgers ad - that along with Tesco offering tins of rosé at "half price" is a sure sign that Christmas is just 3 months away......

This is going to descend down to

"Michael you were in a pub once"
    "Thats right Joe"
    "What year was this Michael?"
    "1925 Joe"
"And do you remember what you had Michael?"
    "I had a drink Joe"

Apart from Snow Patrol, in it's first year, where any of the acts actually that big?

Seems to me that all it is is a free concert.

There's nothing like something for free.

Our image ffs........... Where do we bring every big-name visitor.....a pub!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,766 ✭✭✭JM Skipton

I would love some historian to ring in and suggest that Larkin used to drink 20 pints of Guinness before he got of the bed in the morning!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,966 ✭✭✭✭syklops

The Irish pub I used to frequent in the Czech Republic got a free keg of guinness and a load of free stuff on Arthurs day. I got the glass, and a set of Guinness ear phones, Guinness desktop speakers and a Guinness t-shirt. These pub owners who say they are getting nothing need to ring their stockists.

  • Registered Users Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

That was the most expensive yawn in the history of Irish tax paying.

I hope you wear that t-shirt every Arthurs Day ;)

    Disgraceful from Duffy
Between that and the pen clicking, he shows a singular lack of respect for the calllers and the listeners.
