Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Swaping an irish bike for uk (private deal) with only about 3000km on the clock 5y old... will i have to pay vat in here?

If so.. How do they determine the cost of the vat if there were not money involved.

Is the bike considered as new due to low milleage, even its not due to its age?

    Thanks

I dont mind the vrt. But as far asi know ifnlow milleage like less the 6k tge bike is considered as new. Andnin that scenario vat will apply. 21,5% on the top of vrt.

english lad cant do the vrt as u need to prove the residency.

And 23% of the 'new' price rather than market value as in the eyes of revenue it's new.

Are you buying the bike in the uk op? You could take the long way home, and clock up the extra 3k before you arrive.

Set of old clocks from something with sufficient mileage zip-tied on. Change once NCT crowd are finished.

Also make up a letter to show you have ''paid'' for the bike.

    I think you're reading the clock wrong - isn't that 30000miles ?? ;);)

I thought there was a limit of 12 or 18months for a bike to be treated as 'new' and subject to VAT? The mileage thing was a way of buying a newer bike than that, the mileage was proof it was used and not new.

I imported a Jap bike from the UK with no hassle at all with VRT. I did take it to the VRO within the legally required time though :)

    Scrap the cap!

no limit.. its 6months or 6000km .. if its less the any of these then its a "new" bike and therefore VAT needs to be applied
