BBC say we could send 100 million, what I would do,
    Begovic - 15
    Richards/Sakho - 10
    Flamini - Free
    Cabaye - 15
Di maria and Benzema - 60

Yep, that's the dream scenario for sure.

Giroud just tweeted a picture of himself and Koscielny on the team bus. Big smile on Kos' face and a few stitches on his eye, I think he's going to be fine.

Yep, that's the dream scenario for sure.

Get rid of Cabaye and replace Flamini with Kondogbia :)

They are the away shorts, think it said on arsenal.com earlier they would be using them.

Edit: actually now I look it just says blue shorts but doesn't specify if they're the away ones or not.

No because the regular away ones are a lighter royal blue to go with the yellow away shirt. These are navy blue to go with the trimming on the home shirt. See here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013%E2%80%9314_Arsenal_F.C._season#Kit

In my opinion either Suarez or Higuain would have been better. We wont get Higuain now but we might still get Suarez. Tiny tiny chance but who knows
All this benzama talk is to push the Suarez deal

on if the Luis Suarez transfer is dead…
Yes. Absolutely no chance of that.

Wasn't keen. I wonder had they brought the away kit without realising it would clash coz they looked a bit like the away shorts.

could've been or else because of fenerbache having white shorts too

we'd have got away with that in the premier league just as we have been doing for years against the likes of Leeds and Spurs who wear white shorts AND socks but UEFA and FIFA are gone ultra strict on colour clashes. They are almost advocating Germany wear all white, Italy wear all blue, Holland wear all orange etc.

How unlucky are we all the same though guys?...3 bad head injuries in two games. Its as if fate is using the harshest of measures to try and get the club to buy players and reinforce the squad.

Benzema doesnt really seem getable. Id be very suprised If he leaves Madrid this summer.

Di Maria on the other hand might be an option. Would be a fantastic signing.

We very nearly had Di Maria back in 2007 when he starred for Argentina in the Youth World Cup that year. He snubbed us for Benfica for some reason.

I do believe Wenger is a fan of both especially Benzema but whether the club will part with the cash now is another story altogether.

Since he's OK, well its not as bad as thought, was that kick he took actually for the best

Kos. is suspended on saturday & sagnas' only played a few competitive minutes at CB which was probably aided by adrenaline/whatever with being under pressure & down to 10 men, so he'd have been determined not to f up, which he did very well

so having him get that extra game time along with mert. tonight is for the best i'd think, might help form some sort of understanding, etc.
He should probably start the second leg at CB too with Kos. on the bench just in case

so if in some alternate universe we DO manage to sign the lads the papers have linked us with this evening, then i will totally forgive Wenger.

    He didn't snubb us

" I don’t know exactly what happened with my proposed transfer to Arsenal.

I was very excited about joining them but it never happened. From what I’ve been told, the transfer money that was supposed to appear, never appeared.

And just a day-and-a-half later, Benfica heard about the problem, showed interest in me and quickly hired me. But I am sure that Arsene Wenger would have had a lot to teach me."

Didn't see the match but a very good win.

Also promising news in the transfer window, though I just can't see it happening, and don't want to get my hopes up again- once bit and all.

Finally, it looks like giroud will this years hate figure, followed by syzney. I'm not the type to blame one player on a bad result but these guys aren't really first team quality, good squad players.

I'm not a giroud hater but looking back at our strikers over the past 10 years, we have had RVP, Ade who was very good for us and Henry. Mr giroud is somewhat quality shy of these players.

As for Syczney, he gets very little protection sometimes, I don't believe he's as bad as he's made out to be, however his decision making is shocking as well as mistake prone and I don't really think he's good enough.

Adebayor had ONE good season before fecking off. van Persie had roughly 18 months before doing the same. Before that, he was injured more than he played meaning he wasnt that great for a long time. Comparing anyone to Henry is pointless, nobody will match up to him. Our other strikers in the last 10 years were Bergkamp, Park, Chamakh, Eduardo, Kanu, Wiltord, Stokes, Aliadiere and Vela. One obvious exception aside, I'd say Giroud is comfortably better than all of those.

Henry and Bergkamp way out in front, then van Persie a distant third. I'd put Giroud and Adebayor on the same level but another season like last and Giroud will be closing in on van Persie.

Dont know why people refuse to give him the credit he deserves.

I agree I taught they were going to be a tougher test then that. But a lot of average in the team and we can only beat what's in front of us. We played well but they did hand us two of those goals. Anyway I'm still convinced we still have to sign big but that result should make signing players easier.

EDuardo was very unlucky as he was doing very well until that leg break. Wiltord was better too. Giroud is our Wiltord of today, someone you take from the bench for the last ten minutes. Not a Spearhead for a Title bid. Even though he scored a peno last night what exactly did he do in the whole match but moan at the defence.

I think he will be genuinely world class

He simply can't let anyone else go, it shouldn't even be an option. Far too light already

Benzema/Di Maria thing gaining pace. Graham Hunter reporting that RMCF have confirmed to him that AFC have submitted a bid(s).

I'll be genuinely astonished if we sign both. Benzema makes no sense for them. And both for the reported £45m is insanity on Madrids part.

I do think CB and DM are positions we need to have extra bodies in before the window shuts.

Did they call our bid insulting or question our self-medication yet?

In all seriousness though, the only hope is that Madrid would see this as swapping those two players for Suarez.

No way to letting Podolski go either. Still think he is a good option to have.

Yep just stick to signing instead of letting people go now. Get in a top quality striker, CB and DM and GK and one or two squad additions. We should be equipped to at least go for the title.

Di Maria would be lovely though and Madrid probably don't have room for him this year.

I've posted here how a LW can't be a priority but the idea of

    Walcott - Cazorla - ADM

as the three behind the striker is pretty good.

I wonder about Pod though. Thought he always combined fairly well with Giroud. Others tend to faf about a bit on the ball which really doesn't help Giroud as he gets closed down quite quickly. Pod seemed a bit more direct in his link-up play.

I fear though that if Wenger is putting his eggs in the LW basket, he'll find regular places for Ramsey, Wilshire and Cazorla elsewhere. Arteta is nailed on so that means that any CMF/DMF we buy will be a kid with potential.

I have to agree with the looper here (it happened)

Giroud is not good enough at the moment.

RVP only turned it on late in his career but injuries held him back. His class was always there.

Ade, though you wouldn't think it now, had a great burst of speed to go past people. He was great for us for a while, though he did have more help from midfield.

Giroud isn't fast so he has to be clever. That simply doesn't come to many strikers till later in their careers.

He's a great guy to have around though, and with a bit more intelligence last night from midfield would have had one or two glorious chances from open play.

My defence if him is that I think he'll be great in the future. But I don't think anyone would argue that presently he should be starting every game.

Neither does he IMO and neither do the club.

Though in fairness to Giroud, I think he was denied a couple of tap-ins last night. Once defo from Walcott who ignored a simple five yard pass and tried to go outside and shoot.

Man, I miss the invincibles. They ALWAYS made those passes.

Anyone watching the Arsenal ladies recently have gone on an amazing run and have reached another cup final.

Wenger's comment that "the transfer market starts for me now..." confirms to me that he has been waiting until CL football was guaranteed before really going after players. As was mentioned previously, it was a risky game and he was hoping that the squad was good enough to get us through the first few games, unfortunately it backfired against Villa.

But for however flawed his plan was, I'm relieved that at least there seems to be some plan behind the lack of activity (or so I'm hoping). I'm actually optimistic of some good deals going through. Got a feeling we may have to wait until next week for news though.
