Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

7 million is what I'm hearing too. Not outlandish by top club standards

If that number is after tax as claimed, then that's almost 14 million, or 230,000 p/w. That's pretty outlandish by any club standards.

That's €7m a year after tax though. Most weekly wage figures that are reported are before tax. Apparently Madrid would only go as far as €5m after tax in a new contract. This is the impression I'm under anyway.

Not most at all, only the ones that specifically state that they're wages before tax.

It is by our standard or are all the wages we hear quoted the after tax amount, as in Bendtner is on 50 or 60k after tax?

When you consider all the extra wages we got from shipping out the dead wood.

    It's not too bad.

Who gives a shït what we pay him. We've worried about money long enough. It's football manager time at arsenal!!

Imagine if we signed Mata as well now. Would take Mata over Di Maria to be honest but I would still be chuffed with the latter :D

So does that mean he will sign after it or is it done already but need him for a photoshoot?

I assume the signing is done just the official announcement/razzmatazz to be done (I hope anyway)

Crazy that they schedule these things when they know when deadline day is.

Still plenty to spend. With the new income increases we've not exactly broken the bank and our wage bill is probably lower even with Ozil.

Maybe it a photo shoot of him in his arsenal shirt for the website

So the state of play is this, Ozil appears to be all but done touch wood, new GK to be brought in as a backup it seems, Ba looks to be heading somewhere and more than likely our way. Di Maria would be the icing on the cake. Throw in the return of the Flamster not a bad few days or Arsenal FC. Would just love Di Maria however.

Di Maria is a dead duck from what I can see on Twitter anyway.

Looks like we're not going to get a CB and Winger who we're crying out for tbh. Lamela and Sakho would have been ideal but sure ****, that'd be making things too easy for us.

I would imagine it was scheduled due to the break coming up with the international games and early in the week so as not to interrupt preparation for these games.

Well whatever about Ozil, we need a SK and a wide player as well. Think we will get them but all depends on the quality.

Skipper, we need a skipper to play behind our 7 man midfield and 2 strikers.

We've already been giving silly wages to a lot of players. 50-80k per week for everyone is retarded.

Perez telling the Madrid fans to be quiet after they started singing "don't sell Özil" during Bale's presentation!

    No, no it's not.

It was part of a wage structure that got us young players like Ramsey and Fab without having to outlay too much cash.

Pay youth more - attract best youth. It made a lot of sense when we couldn't pony up big transfer fees.

But of course, to you, it's retarded.

You see this is all part of the problem. I mean you have to pay the youth, like Ramsey, Cesc etc a good (high) wage if you want to attract them and keep them at the club. The problem is most of them only have potential and could go either way. We have had a mixed bag with regards the youth and most the "deadwood" were released this year.

However the same problem arises in the first team. Not every player we sign (unfortunately) is going to be Ozil but you still have to pay them a good wage. Sometimes even the higher profile names don't work out aka Arshavin who was also on a high wage but you can't have it both ways.

To attract big name players you have to pay them a lot and some on here are complaining that we don't do that often enough. But then, if they don't work out, a lot of the time the same posters are complaining that if we are willing to pay the "deadwood" so much, why won't we pay bigger wages to the superstars.

It doesn't seem to matter what Wenger does, some people (in this thread anyway) will never be happy and will condemn him if he does, or doesn't pay high wages.

Have to agree with this.. Sometimes I wonder what massive companies some of the people who are posting here are managing, the way they put down the work Wenger is doing. You just have to ignore them.

If Ozil is in, I'll just want more and more ha.

Bring in Ba, why not? And Viviano looks done. Good competition.

Now bring in a defensive midfielder and a centre back please.

I think anyone hoping for a defensive signing is going to be disappointed. Wenger is happy with that area I reckon.

I think he is too. But everything is looking so good in midfield. It would just be great to seal some depth into defence and up front.

It's won us precisely nothing. Players each have to be paid according to what they bring to the team, not some "socialist" ideal of having everyone one quite high wages. It is necessary to have some much higher earners than the rest of the squad.

    Nearly at the 10,000 mark.

Was hoping Ozil would have signed for ye before closing the thread.
