With the good weather looking to continue I've decided a bit of camping is in order, so I'm looking for a campsite beside a lake or river preferably not in Wicklow and not as far as the west coast.

I had found one in Leitrim http://www.battlebridgecaravanandcamping.ie/ very close to the Shannon but looking at their website they don't appear to allow dogs.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

There is one overlooking Lough Arrow in Co. Sligo.

If it does rain, there is a Hostel almost next door.

    :)

We've camped at Battlebridge in Leitrim a few years ago. Campsite was pleasantly situated on the Shannon and attached to/ run by a pub - so very handy for a few pints :)

Think I'll give them a ring and ask them about bringing a dog.

Beach Bar in Aughris, Sligo have a small campsite beside the pub

    plus showers and toilets.

very picturesque, safe beach with views of Knonknarea and Benbulben.
