Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Regardless of the outcome and for the most miniscule offence, would your name be printed in the paper if you have a court case? Is every single case publicised?
    Thanks

Unless it's a family law hearing or there are reporting restrictions, then any case is liable to be reported/commented upon, that's part of the point of justice being administered in public.

No, every case is not publicised. I know a rural court reporter who is open to persuasion, I'm sure many of them are.

It's mainly only a risk in semi-rural areas.

It can get pretty unfortunate, actually.

Impossible to have the result of every case published. Each day the national newspapers will publish details of on going high profile cases e.g murders etc or cases involving a person of public interest.
The provincial newspapers would have more detailed reports of lesser offences e.g drunk driving, no insurance, assaults, drinking after hours etc.
There is no restriction on publishing of names unless ordered by the Judge to protect the name of victim or because the accused is a juvenile

In a hypothetical scenario, where a person was found in possession of €12.50 of grass (roughly a gram) with no previous convictions of any sort, would a case like that be published? Would such a situation even make it to court?
    Thanks

    Depends where you live.

Buy the local paper and see what type of cases are reported on.

Depends on how slow a news week it was. Go and tip over some cows or make some intricate crop circles.

With proper legal advice this could be dealt with by an adult caution by the local Superintendent. The person would have to admit the offence though.
The DPP can agree to no prosecution if of the opinion that a court case wouldn't be in the interests of justice.
I.e Is it really justified giving someone a conviction, perhaps feck up their employment for the sake of a €12.50 drug
