Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No mirrors legally?

I've seen a few bikes recently without no, or just one mirror, about Dublin.

One was a motorbike, and it wasn't a race bike.

The other two were scooters. One had one mirror.

What's the law in Ireland regarding this? Presuming both are legally required for all motor-vehicles, regardless of CC...?

similar to the indicators - optional, but if in place, must be in working order (ie not shards of glass, or bare mirror stalk/spear)

I personally ride without mirrors & love it...lifesavers become second nature rather than an after-thought when you are used to/reliant on mirrors...just my 2 cents

oof, wouldnt fancy that! doign work on my 'naked bike' so on the sportsbike at the moment, and contrary to it, the sportsbikes mirrors are absolute cack! handy for checking your elbows are still attached, but the big blind spot directly behind is very off putting - I really wouldnt fancy a 180 degree blindspot

do ye do periodic lifesavers to see directly behind that ye dont have a ambulance etc baring down on you?

I don't trust mirrors in general and do a lifesaver if unsure of what's going on behind me.

Didn't know they were optional...that's interesting.

I just have 1 right hand side mirror on my vespa px, to check traffic behind that might be overtaking me. I do lifesavers on the inside left hand side and always when turning left...works for me. With 2 mirrors you might be come too reliant on the things, 1 is a happy balance...

I remember when I was getting training and I was told that you should always use your mirrors 'cos they tell you everything you need to know! But to throw a lifesaver, when needed, as your mirrors sometimes lie ;)

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
