That's a real shame. Have been down there for the last three years, pacing or racing, and it was always a great experience. Best of luck to those involved and thanks for the fond memories.

Would you be able to expand on this?

I can't see how one persons health could have an effect on running an event.
Surely more than one person is involved organizing the race?

Tempted by the connemarathon as a replacement but the logistics and/or the budget are a bit scary (camping?)

Especially since I read that the Belfast city marathon does this :

"For the first time, the organisers have decided to post out the race number, timing chip and instructions to all participants before Race Day. This will be for all events; Marathon Run, Wheelchair Race, Team Relay, 8 Mile Walk and Fun Run. The pack will arrive approximately two weeks before Race Day."

    for 33 stg

In that case, best wishes for a full recovery to the person involved.

+1. really sorry to hear this - no way a decision like this would be taken lightly. Really enjoyed this event the last four years. Best wishes to all concerned.

Very unexpected this and disappointing as I just entered it this weekend.

Must look for an alternative, when is the Wicklow one on?

Events like these tend to be run by small but hugely committed teams. And no event is worth the price of someone's health or the opportunity to regain it. Best of luck to the organisers in all of their endeavours.

Anyone thinking of Connemara as an alternative - Their facebook advised on Thursday it was close to selling out. Get in there quick if that's your choice!

Just to say that I got my refund by cheque yesterday, so all is well.

Must be a huge amount of work and cost all those refunds ...

I have run Cork Limerick Belfast in the last 3 years.

Cork is fine though lonely in parts.

Limerick is also fine less lonely.

Belfast is an absolute no no Baggage alone was so badly organised as to be a health risk and the course is not great. Avoid and do not be tempted by cheap rates
