How much soil?

I have layers of stones at the end of my garden. I have managed to get rid of some and now want to put down soil and grow grass. Underneath the stones is a drain. My question is how much soil do I need for grass to grow? 2 inches, 4 inches, 6 inches? What?

lash 2 big bags of fartilizer on the area throw some seeds cover the seeds a bit water it and sit back and watch ur grass shoot up quicker than a smack-head

I would put at least 4 inches of soil on top if you dont want the grass to dry out in moderately warm weather
