If you mean airplay the screen of your iPad to the Apple TV, then you can do it with apps that have it enabled, like YouTube. Mirroring only came in with iPad 2. If you are trying to watch your Apple TV on your iPad, then I am lost. Anything you can watch on the Apple TV most likely has its own app for the iPad and more besides, e.g. Rte player not available for Apple TV but is for your iPad. Happy watching!
