VHI nearly 1200. Alternative Health Insurance?

    I'm getting sick of shelling out annually for this.
    Anyone able to suggest decent health insurance (preferable with no or little excess for private stays; I'm flexible about dropping some/maybe all the day to day stuff).
    So decent solid private insurance for 800 region.
    Is this possible.

    Can you get quotes online from Laya, Aviva etc? Maybe a few phone calls or emails to them asking for prices for similar products. Health insurance is ridiculously expensive alright
