Not in a great position to pay - really hoping to get some of these for free if possible.

One of my pet hates is the way they keep changing school books to make a few more euro!
This is insane and adds to hardship on families, school books should be future proofed for 5 - 10 years

My advice is to ask someone a friend who has an older sibling who may have a friend who doesnt need the books. Also a good network for advice on subjects etc.
