    Hi.

After over 6 years, my desktop PC has bitten the dust. It may only be the power supply that's dead. I am currently using my very low end laptop. What's the best way to copy the data from my desktop PC onto my laptop? Via a hard drive dock/adapter? Where can these be bought?

    Thanks.

The first thing to do would be to check if it is an ide or sata connection on the hard drive. If there is a ribbon (maybe 2" wide) cable going to your hard drive its ide, if its a narrow cable its sata

get a sata caddy 3.5inch,drive enclosure
    in maplins,pcworld, peats.
you,ll need one with a power supply.
    cost around 30 euro.
or just buy a psu for the pc.
There,s loads of pc parts shops in moore st, dublin 1.

unless pc is older than 6 years, drive should be sata 3.5inch.

do not get a 2.5inch caddy. must be 3.5inch.
2.5 in is for laptop drives.
