Can anyone recommend a good sea kayak for mackerel fishing etc. Pref a sit on top type rather than a traditional canoe type. Also is there trailers for these available that could be towed behind a push bike.

    Cheers.

I purchased a feelfree nomad, and seperately purchased rod holders. Installation was easy, plenty of how to information on YouTube. Been out fishing several times now, on lake and sea for mackeral most recently and it's worked out great. The Nomads keys advantage for me has been its size/weight and the built in rear wheel - this makes it so easy to roll up and down pier slipways and then throw up on a car roof rack, but given the weight I doubt you could tow with a push bike easily! ( I also tried a tarpon 100 but found that required 2 people to move any distance, as well as being harder to manoeuvre in the water)

The Ocean Kayak Trident 13 seems to be a popular choice at the moment, seems to be a good bit lighter that others.
I have a Tarpon 140 and a Ride 135, the Tarpon is much more manageable than the Ride from the perspective of manhandling it about, more due to the width of the Ride even though there is not a huge amount in it weight wise. For the sea the minimum recommended length seems to be about 12 foot.

I use a small trolley with wide wheels to get too and from the water and it was quite expensive for what it is but I would be screwed without it.
The most important thing seems to be to avoid any of the trolley systems that use the scupper holes as apparently they can cause quite a bit of wear and tear in places that are not immediately visible to inspection but will have you taking on water.

For covering any distance think about a trolley that has big wheels, more like a trailer

I have seen bike trolley projects on other websites.

There are a lot of lads there that have been fishing from kayaks for a long time and while reinventing the wheel may be gratifying, you don't really have to!
The buy and sell section is worth a look.

A little further afield is the Texas Fishing forum

They have a very active forum and lots of DIY /rigging projects that may be of interest just do a search
