advice needed on new router

Hi.

Switched from Eircom to Vodafone a while back,but kept the old Netopia router.But now it is broke and I need to replace it.Vodafone want €30 for their router which has the wireless antenna inside it. Really good wireless range is very important to us. Would I be best to save my €30 and get a different router with a good wireless range?

If so could you guys recommend what I should go with (not sure if I'm limited for compatibility with Vodafone)?

If wireless range is so important to you, get a decent separate WLAN router.

If you want a recommendation, get the ASUS RT-N66U. Exceptional coverage, great wireless speed and compatible with alternative firmware (DD-WRT & TomatoUSB). It'll set you back 120 yoyos but as they say, if you buy cheap you'll get cheap.

For €30 more, you'll get the same model with 802.11ac (aka wireless gigabit)

Thanks for this.I take it I would also need a router to connect the DSL to and then from that into this box?

If so it might get a bit too expensive.Was looking to stay under €80, but maybe I'm just dreaming.

I have a TP-Link 150 repeater that I've not used.

Would any of these be a good idea?
