It's not working now and I really don't know what's happening.

A cat-and-mouse game between content providers and smartdns providers is what's happening.

    I'm using Eircom's router.

Once you log in, go to Internet on the top of the screen.

Then go to internet settings on the left hand side of the screen.

Select 'VDSL LAN1' and then edit.

Next to 'Static DNS' there's a tick box, tick that and it gives you the option of entering in IPv4 primary DNS server and IPv4 secondary DNS server. You get these from the Dns provider that you're using. Once you have entered these in, just save it and it should be good to go.

That's what I've done with same eircom router. Changed IPv4 DNS
Some of the apps are still blocked however BBC/itv are working.

Which apps are blocked? I can check to see if they're working on mine

The Nowtv app is now on Samsung TVs if you have switched over to the UK app store.

Only for newer TVs though, right? My Samsung is a a couple of years old and it didn't have the app last time I checked (I've the store set to UK).

Ah ok.. i couldn't get it on my smart TV..

So if I buy the box with no subscription I can watch 4OD on it straight away?

4OD works in Ireland on the website and Android but they haven't enabled the console or smart TV apps here.

A bit off topic but Sky Sports are changing their linup, basically giving each sport its own channel and so I was looking into Now TV and wondering if it will be possible to get just the Sky Football channel or will it still just be day/week passes. If so it might mean getting all the footie for 28 - 30 quid a month

    Details...
New Sky Sports layout from next week...
Choose one channel for £18, two for £22, three for £26 - or get it all, plus our brand new Main Event channel for only £27.50 extra a month

The channel numbers for our new range of channels are:
Sky Sports Main Event – Channel 401
Sky Sports Premier League – Channel 402
Sky Sports Football - Channel 403
Sky Sports Cricket - Channel 404
Sky Sports Golf – Channel 405
    Sky Sports F1 – Channel 406
Sky Sports Action - Channel 407
Sky Sports Arena - Channel 408
Sky Sports News - Channel 409

There won't be the choice to choose channels in Ireland for now, only in the UK.

Will you take €5 for one entertainment pass?
    Is it a 1month or 3month pass?

This box only has 2 channel sound
    No 5.1 surround sound
It's specs misleadingly state 5.1 and 7.1 pass through but of course none of the streams or downloads contain Dolby 5.1

    It's a 1970's box

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,301 ✭✭✭✭gerrybbadd

Got an email there saying the price of an Entertainment pass is increasing to £7.99 in September.

Still great value compared with Irish prices!

Yeah, £7.99 = €9.12 at today's exchange rate, compared to €15 for the (inferior) Irish service. It's mad.

The supply of cheap passes on eBay seems to be drying up though.

And when you factor in your bank's/c card's commission you could be well over €10. But still far better value than here, as you have mentioned.

With Revolut, can you leave you balance at zero, after you pay, in case you forget to cancel, as that zero balance will/may stop Nowtv from robbing you next month?:D
