Trademark Image For Dublin

Inspired by this thread in After Hours: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057001066 Basically, if you were given the task of promoting Dublin as a tourist destination and were allowed use one image or iconic building to draw in the crowds, what one would you pick? I'll get it started with this:

Hard to beat. Love that image. I think the Guinness Xmas ad can't do the city's rep much harm either

Love seeing nice photos of Dublin. It gets a lot of **** but plenty to see and enjoy around Dublin not just in the city center.

The Spike would be too ironic in its suitability.

I do think that the view down the Liffey with the various bridges is iconic of Dublin. That would be nice.

That being said, summing up a city in one image or location is be symptomatic of all that's wrong with tourism. Sorry to be a drag.

Ah yes that's near Dublin Cork airport. A 2-3 hour bus ride from the airport into Dublin.

I honestly can't think of anything. Dublin's not so much a 'pretty' city, as a 'personality' city. I'd be thinking of a strong, rather than an attractive feature. Poolbeg chimneys maybe?

The thing about Dublin is theres so many trademarks or landmarks around there just more natural then stunning in a sense though.....

If you where to walk around Dublin city center just as an example on a quite sunny day its amazing whats actually there behind the other crap that gets mentioned mostly.

Even something as simple as Moore street maybe before it turned into the ghetto.

I do think the Poolbeg Chimneys are probably the most distinguishing feature of Dublin's skyline.

I do too but I'm not sure they'd be much use when promoting Dublin as a tourist destintion. Up close and personal, they're quite ugly :-)

Whatever the particulars of any given image, I do think that it should include the Liffey. The river is the defining geological feature of Dublin without which the city might not exist.

And although natives take it for granted, there’s really something quite wonderful about having a river run through the middle of the city.

The platforms at Heuston are extended in that picture so i am pretty sure it is more modern than
the early 90s.There has been some great aerial shots of Dublin from years gone by though
