    Trouble at Millwall!

    Nooooooooo.

Fan ran on the pitch, and snatched flag from linesman, and led away by the police incase you missed it on Final Score.

Great result for Northampton yesterday, game called off for waterlogged pitch.

Caretaker manager has just bought in a couple of loan strikers because "they are probably a bit better than what we have" Cobblers elite scouting network strikes again.
    Going down.

    Derby lost!

Wolves and Orient slugged it out for a draw on Boxing Day as Brentford go top in League One with two wins (Wolves held and orient postponed yesterday) , suddenly they are looking very strong

Northampton Town win away, keeper saves a penalty, unbeaten in 2 whole games, all is well in the world. Still bottom, still manager-less but both loan strikers that "might be a bit better than what we have" both seem to be living up to their reputation.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,325 ✭✭✭✭Dozen Wicked Words

Huge downer of a day, Cobblers lost at home, Torquay who were 1 place above us won, and worst of all, a supporter dropped dead outside after the game which I suppose puts everything else into perspective.

Went over to Sheffield for the L**ds game. Was hoping for a draw, got so much more than a draw. Fair play to the L**ds fans making the most of the situation.
Some of the chants were quite funny. 'you must be so sh!t, its only 4-0' and 'hes ross mccormack, he'll play on his own'. Actually felt sorry for him.

Now to hopefully not balls it up against Macc Lads on Tuesday

    Results
    Leeds 0 - 1 Leicester
    Barnsley 2 - 0 Blackpool
    Birmingham 0 - 2 Yeovil
    Bournemouth 1 - 1 Watford
    Burnley 1 - 1 Sheff Wed
    Derby 1 - 0 Brighton
    Doncaster 3 - 0 Wigan
    Middlesbrough 1 - 0 Charlton
    Millwall 1 - 0 Ipswich
    Nottm Forest 4 - 1 Blackburn
    QPR 2 - 1 Huddersfield
    Reading 7 - 1 Bolton

Some intriguing results there. Looks like Dougie Freedman at Bolton might be getting his P45 in the morning if not this evening. Chris Powell should be looking over his shoulder too at Charlton. Stuart Gray has turned things around at Wednesday, great point for them at Burnley - they're starting to faulter of late. Think Gray has done more than enough to take that job full time. It would take a brave man now to bet against QPR not finishing in the top 2. Leicester have a history of imploding so could go either way with them.

Leeds in freefall, but i don't think McDermott has the players there anyway. Massive wins for Barnsley, Yeovil and Doncaster........especially considering Wigan were on a good run of form. Bamford and Reid scored outstanding goals for Derby and Forest respectively.

Leeds were terribly unlucky today though. How they weren't at least 1-0 up at half time is beyond comprehension!!

Not that I particularly care about that shower either way! :pac::D

What do you make of Connor Wickham mate? Seems to be doing quite well although I haven't seen much of him.

Good win for Middlesbrough today, that's 5 wins and a draw in the last 6 games and are up to ninth now. Away to Leicester next

Edgar Davids has left Barnet. The writing has probably been on the wall for a while with him not turning up for certain away trips and for stopping playing after being sent off a number of times. Shame though - was nice to be associated with such a stellar player.

London Broncos are at the Hive this year, might earn Barnet a few quid during the summer if the Rugby League team lasts that long. Doesn't look like Barnet are getting up this year, Exciting trip to the Cobblers for you to look forward to next season the way it's looking.

Forest will buy Wickham from Sunderland before end of transfer window. At least that's what I hope. His loan with Wednesday is up Jan 30th. £5m should do it but they may want more after his exploits in Sheffield these past few months.

DF Wickham was overpriced at Ipswich but two clubs have been burned since and he's still LOL valued beyond his worth X.

    .

Burnley have 7 pts in the last 3 games or 15 pts in the last 8. They struggled in november with 3 pts in 4 games. But their form of late is quite good in and around 2 pts a game which would bring them very close to automatic promotion.

He's out of contract in summer 2015 so it may not take that much, although I think we might keep him if we go down as he has proven he can do it at that level. With that in mind and the likelihood that we will be playing Championship football next season, I wouldn't like to see him sold.

Depends how the player feels himself. Don't think he'll be happy to go back to SOL to sit on the bench.

One of the problems with Wickham since he arrived at Sunderland is his propensity to do just that. A poor trainer by all accounts and he seems to think he has made it already. When you see him driving around the city in a new Ferrari I guess it's hard to argue that he has though :pac:

Danny Graham off to Forest is the latest one doing the rounds.

No surprise - Paul Ince booted from Blackpool, shocking run of form has them in the bottom third after a decent start to the season.

Northampton have new management in place, Chris Wilder has left play off placed Oxford to become our manager, with Alan Knill as his assistant. Plenty of experience there but the squad he has at the moment is dire, just hoping for a miracle now, starting tomorrow against Rochdale.

How do you give up two 2-0 second half leads in 5 days? :pac:

Forest deserved it for their 2nd half display, Watford never came out for the second half.

What a goal by Angella though, possible goal of the season contender:

Cobblers signing people left right and centre, some good players, for our level anyway have signed on. Might be too late but going to have a right crack at staying in the league.

Went to Forest - Yeovil on Sunday. A bitterly cold day, but got complimentary tickets so wasn't all bad. Forest have played better but still were full value for the win.....Reid and Lansbury pulling the strings again. The Ireland u-21 captain Shane Duffy had a solid game for Yeovil, dealt with anything that came his way. You can see he comes from a Premier League background, rarely hit it long, always looking to keep it on the deck. It's just a pity that Gary Johnson doesn't let them play a bit of football, because for the brief spell that they did pass it around after scoring, they caused Forest a few problems. I'm not surprised they've beaten decent teams like Birmingham and Watford away from home this season because they're a compact side. They are weak down the flanks though, i thought both full backs were suspect, Reid and Jara in particular had a lot of joy for Forest out wide.

Forest unbeaten in 13 games in all comps now and 5 league wins in last 7 games. On a decent run, have to keep winning if we're to keep up with QPR and Burnley. One would have to think that Leicester are out of sight, barring a total implosion - which normally happens to them around February and March! :D

Massive win for the Cobblers against fellow strugglers Torquay, still cast adrift at the bottom but huge result for confidence if nothing else. Is the great escape on? Optimistic until the next game where the wheels fall off again.

Wheels didn't stay on long for the Cobblers revival. Beaten 2 nil at Fleetwood. No great surprise though and not any worse off in the league as teams around them didn't do great either.

    12:15

    Middlesbrough v Leeds

    15:00

    Barnsley v Millwall
    Blackpool v Birmingham
    Bolton v Watford
    Brighton v Wigan
    Burnley v Nottm Forest
    Charlton v QPR
    Derby v Bournemouth
    Huddersfield v Sheff Wed
    Leicester v Ipswich
    Reading v Blackburn
    Yeovil v Doncaster

A few 'massif' games on tomorrow....relegation six pointers at Oakwell and Bloomfield Road. Burnley - Forest is huge in terms of who will take the 2nd automatic spot......looks like it could be a draw if recent form is anything to go by. Derby and QPR have what looks like on paper two very winnable games, to keep up the pressure on Burnley. Derby could go second if they beat Bournemouth and Forest win at Turf Moor.

But when did "on paper" ever count for much in the nuts division that is The Championship?!

Clean sheet for Northampton, have signed Zander Diamond on loan for rest of season, supposedly epic in defence today. Another home game on Tuesday against Sarfend. Badly need another win, still 5/6 points from safety.

Woking, brings memories of 2 cup games that both went to replays. Late 70s (when I was very young) with Jimmy Greaves and a 3 - 3 draw, and the late 90s and a 4 - 4 draw after Woking led 4 - 0 at half time. Unfortunately (for me) Woking eventually went through on both occasions

Just a mention for the new manager effect - Clough gets sacked from Derby who are now strongly placed in the Championship under McLaren but its also worked for Nigel who has made Sheffield Utd a form side in League One.

Wolves in over Brentford was big result, while Luton Town are going ballistic in the Conference - another goal fest.
