Didn't hear the radio show, is it to do with the signs? If so Bock the Robber had some thing on this yesterday:

The signs are very creative and well thought out.

but inaccurate - they work Sunday nights too

A proper solution to it would be what they do in the Netherlands and Germany which is allow brothels as its taxed and legalised. You can be walking down a street in German and respectable looking houses have red lights on.If you have to go to a brothel to buy sex, it will stop women working on the street.

Arresting the women will do little to stop them. You arrest them, process them and they are back on the street. I doubt trafficked women would be working on the street due to the high risk of being caught. The whole debate on all women are forced into sex industry is BS and purely an agenda by feminists. You never heard these groups like turn off the red light concerned about the hundreds of male prostitutes working in Ireland, as prostitution in their view only "degrades" women.

It's also legal and regulated in Austria, Switzerland, Turkey, Greece, Latvia, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries. In these countries the girls pay tax and have to have regular medical tests to be allowed to work in the industry. It's safer for both the girls and their customers.

The Sinbin had a back to school party last night. Male strippers included.

Surely some of the 'Ladies of the Night' come be employed as strip dancers and tour the pubs and clubs around the country. Harmless fun.

Ya, it's bit rich for an ex-hooker to be giving out about prostitutes.

I suppose they are the only people on the streets of Limerick after six o' clock..which makes them even more blatantly obvious.

Jesus, Do you know how many people are walking around Limerick after 6 pm that have nothing to do with that? Lots of them are going to work, coming from work or coming from shopping in Tesco or similar late opening shops.

    Think before you speak, man

I'm looking forward to seeing how many names on the list I know next time there is a sting .... had 3 the last time

Seriously though - no place for it on the streets although I'd advocate a regulated industry like Australia ... each to there own and all that.

Have to feel sorry for those street walkers

Any chance you can get a link to those lists? :D
I have an ex-boss that is a regular at Flanery's and there has been some talk about his late night activities. ;)

In my defence it's Sunday and I need a laugh. :D

I do support legalisation of prostitution, I do also understand the concerns and fears of anyone living in the areas affected by the issue.

That said the issue about women being forced into prostitution is not a forced issue by feminist. It's alive and kicking and to make matters worse is mutating into more acceptable forms by society.

Forcing a women into prostitution is nothing but a rape. Nowadays there is something that people do not consider prostitution or rape but in essence is a rape. It's called sexual harassment. The real types of sexual harassment where a woman has to decide whether to f*ck the boss or leave the job. And if you depend on those wages to live it's a real threat and it literally puts very close to destitute if you are on your own. And it can get nasty and your chances of getting a job after might be very dim because here, the boss is always right.

Funny enough some women have a very laid back attitude and think that you should be "lucky" for getting that attention.

In moments like that I don't what it's worse if men's attitudes to the issue or women's ones.

And no, nothing like that is a feminist invention. So just think before you speak and stop believing that feminist are nothing but a group of bitches whose only purpose is to make the lives of men misery.

Real feminists have done a hell of a lot of good to society and to men.

"Fla" would want to come off his high horse as he will lose some punters. Does he think none of his punters frequent ladies of the night.

Only for his rugby career he wouldn't have pulled half the birds he did. Hmmm an international rugby jock in Limerick giving advice on women? What about those who look like prop forwards but aren't pro rugby players?

Tongue in cheek guys! The "fla" is a nice fella but come on he's never had to worry about pulling a woman in his life! It's wrong to judge people who do go to hookers. Not all of them have bad dress sense or smell. Lots of reasons why people go. (I don't!!).
If the fla was a regular joe like the rest of us he would know how hard it is out there!
I would be impressed if he used his muscle on the pimps...

    ..

It's difficult for women to meet people too, but you don't see us paying random men to perform sex acts on us. Going to a prostitute has nothing to do with sex or companionship, its a power thing

A power thing? I would disagree with you. I would imagine 99% of men go to hookers for a shag and don't want to spend time trying to chat someone up.

I don't agree with it anyhow and don't see the justification in paying for it just because you can't get it any other way but 100% of the people I know who have paid for sex did it for one reason only - a root. They are fine with the mechanical and non emotional aspect of it. I wouldn't be plus I think it's morally wrong but each to their own.

Olga, the list from the sting in Dec 2011 can be found here, scroll to end of story. No idea if your ex-boss is on it.

The reaction to the publication of these names can be found here. The men clearly thought they were doing nothing wrong by soliciting sex, but publishing their names might lead to suicide, says a leading lawyer. He even goes on to use the "think of the wife and kids" argument. This is a strange attitude to what is considered a minor offence attracting a maximum €470 fine.

It happens, mostly as female sex tourism. A common destination for Americans is Jamaica. For European women, Nairobi is popular. For Japanese, Bangkok or Bali. I have seen it personally in Bali many years ago. Apparently, this form of tourism is growing.

Here is a piece Julie Bindel did in 2003 on female sex tourism.

For the record. I don't think the existence of women paying for sex is an argument in favour of prostitution. Nor does it dilute any arguments against prostitution.

In my opinion, prostitution use is a form of entertainment. It is nothing to do with companionship, intimacy or the 'need' for sex.

The women who pay for sex are also entertaining themselves, it's fun, it's enjoyable, they are free to pick their mate, it's great to be able to dictate the pace and the sex acts. They hold the power and that is just as appealing as the fine physical specimens of men they buy.

I think the power is actually more important for women than for men, since they are socialised to be demure and this is their opportunity to please themselves.

I think most men would prefer an entertaining experience and not have to use their power. But I fear I might be wrong on this since men are demanding more exotic acts that 'normal' women object to. Many of these are devoid of any erotic content, they are pure displays of power.

I intended to disagree with your assertion that prostitution is about power, but now I would say that prostitution is too often about power.

The most worrying thing about it to be fair is the facts that came out of the indo story amazed no one has mentioned it.

Turf war between 2 gangs of romanian prostitutes and one gang has started offering unprotected sex to undercut the other, scumbags ! Mad thing is what about all these so called respectable people in their mercs and audis and the farmers going home to the wife with a dose of gonnorea.

One is 4 months pregnant as well.

I wonder what the chances are this will escalate into violence on the streets?

This won't end with a happy ever after.
