Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All

Our trusty dyson (DC19)has developed a problem of late. Basically you have to keep the power button pressed down for it to work. When you take your hand off the power button it switches off.

Could anyone advise if is this is a DIY fix or am I better off getting it repaired somewhere professionally?

    Thanks in advance :)

Are you handy enough yourself ?
    Try the espares website http://www.espares.co.uk/browse/ma716/dyson?utm_source=google_ie&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=dyson%20spare%20parts&utm_campaign=Dyson&mkwid=sewavarvQ&pcrid=16327847780&kword=dyson%20spare%20parts&match=e&plid=&pdv=c

Find your model dyson and see if they have the on-off switch for it, they have videos for replacing lots of the spare parts as well.

As I was looking at the above site I googled the problem and found this

    http://www.fixya.com/support/t613963-button_stay

"Easy fix, unplug the machine sit in front of it. put your thumb on the on/off button and push down and slip your thumb off of it as fast as you can so it pops real loud. Do this ten times and then plug back in and see if it works. ( this came from talking with Dyson people) Hope it works for you. They said this will reset the machine. also acts as a warning that your filters most likely need cleaned"

All working again. Could be useful for someone else ;)

Even if out of guarantee, you can call Dyson (http://www.dyson.ie/support.aspx) and for a set fee <€100.00, they will come out and fix it on the spot, including any parts needed. I have used the service myself for a DCO5 (15 years old) and it was finished better that new. The motor was noted as not 100% and was replaced even though the call out was for a broken cable winder.

That all assumes you are happy with the machine and wish to keep if for a number of years, otherwise €100.00 could buy a new (cheaper machine)!
