Vestibular disease

    Hi All,

My beautiful 11 year old springer spaniel has been diagnosed with vestibular disease. She had an operation about two weeks ago to remove some mammary tumors and was recovering well but on Thursday last I noticed she was very quiet and then she started to loose her balance and her head was titled, she just kept collapsing. I honestly thought she was going to die. She's still quite ill but is making a slow recovery.

Have any of you experience this disease with your dogs and if so did they recover well from it? The vet has assured me that she is not in pain but I just hate to see her like this. She barely acknowledges me and just looks so sad. Although she's old, prior to this she was acted like a puppy. I know it can take a few weeks to see an improvement, we are giving her steroids and antibiotics and the course of drugs is over two weeks long.

    Any stories of similar experiences?
