Yes, even if you agree with them, isn't it much more interesting when there are different viewpoints, each arguing their point, rather than everyone agreeing. Marian Finucane's programme suffers from this as well.

Secondly, Trump has -- in his way of saying three incompatible things before breakfast, as angrily and unqualifiedly as possible-- a rationale for why he's "really" a free-trader. See, other countries have tariffs and trade barriers, or are otherwise "not being fair", in some manner he's happy to wave his little hands regarding. Thus, tariffs are just a proximate remedy for this, not something he believes in, as a matter of principle. (This last part, at least, is actually true. He doesn't have any principles.)
