Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Last point. If a Democrat president behaved as Trump did and does, I fully believe that Pat Kenny would judge him in the same way. There is no evidence to suggest that he wouldn't.

    I'm out.

So you think if Hilary had been elected, Pat Kenny would have got a resident Republican academic as his go to for an "objective" opinion on American Politics?

Wake up, she wouldnt be saying the sort of hate filled filth that Trump does so wouldnt deserve the same criticism.

He's fairly muted this morning. " There was an election in the US yesterday.....moving swiftly on, let's talk about Prison Officers and Christmas "

Okay so you are then saying that it is the job of the media to tell us what is right or wrong, not to report it objectively and let us work it out for ourselves.

Unfortunately, you're trying to get through to people who think calling out lies (which politicians never do) is more important than calling out Obama's drone massacres. It's political tribalism at its finest.

    Then you weren't listening.

The telling of fibs is not worse, and that's not an argument anyone has made. If people were criticising Trump every day for indiscriminate drone attacks on civilians, you'd have a point, but they're not, it's all the other stuff. The cumulative shítshow of his administration so far, including lies, flip flopping, family separation policy, his attitude to other heads of states (not taking no shít no more from Europe, Canada, Australia, but wouldn't it be niiiice if the US could be freeeends with Russia, Iran, North fcuking Korea), his racist dog whistles (just plain whistles by now in fairness), are very very much worse for Western democracy, and that's what he's being criticised for.

Ireland is a fairly socially liberal society, practically socialist by US terms. The democratic party has always aligned more closely with the values of Irish people as a whole. It's close to a complete shambles of a party atm from what I can see, but it's still closer in ethos to Irish people than the Republican party. If Trump were a Republican and carrying on the exact same way as he is now, do you honestly think Kenny et al would just ignore it? Because that's what an actual bias towards the Democratic party would be.

This is all subjective and mostly nonsense. If Saint Obama had eased relations with Russia and NK he would be proclaimed the new Messiah. This is why it's pointless talking to people who see politics as a football match, where ya have to support a team, and defend them at all costs.

Right, so Trump lying? Outrage from media figures, particularly Pat Kenny and Matt Mangina.. When Obama is implementing a policy of indiscriminate bombing on innocent villagers? Silence. I don't remember any of them criticizing him. What would the reaction be of Trump had presided over Saint Obama's drone campaign?

But he has. The number of drone strikes has increase significantly under Trump, with a complete lack of that outrage about it from yourself. A bit tribalist, don't you think?

Ann Coulter was a regular contributor to several Irish shows during the George Bush presidency. Michael Graham still contributes to George Hook's show.

Seeing as you and others constantly reference "the media", what do you think of Fox News in the context of your post above?

Sure Trumps not even Irish! Unlike all the other Presidents we managed to claim for ourselves.

Perhaps its narcissism which would seem strange for the media in dis country.

Good grief, Pat has some patience with Edwina Currie and her half informed, glorious Britannia schtick...

'the people who want these documents released want to stop Brexit'...
..."Michael Gove wants them released, he is a Brexiteer"
'well the documents are small fry'

'this is a negotiation nothing at all is certain'
    literally two seconds later:
'it is absolutely certain that we're leaving, it's a bit hard for Brussels to understand that'
AND this was in the context of votes in the British parliament!

Not to mention when she joked that she was a child in 1995. Eh, you had an affair with John Major 10 years before that???

Why is Fox so criticized, its a conservative news station, the only one.

You never hear Pat Kenny or Matt Cooper sneer at MSNBC and their ridiculous liberal bias.

So, you think is ridiculous because they are biased (in your view) but you suggest Fox is a conservative show implying that they too are biased in that favour yet you wonder why they are criticized. That's insightful and ignorant all at once.

Fox had until relatively recently the tagline "Fair and balanced" as part of their logo.
When did you last see MSNBC's top show host on stage campaigning with the president of America?
When did you see the sitting president of America endorse the book of an MSNBC show host in the Oval office?

I have no issue with there being a conservative TV station. Fox "News" is not a news station though. It's a propaganda machine and a blight on the American political landscape.

I think you are confused, I agree they are biased.

The point I was making is that Irish news stations only seem to have a problem with conservative bias and not liberal bias.

I'm guessing the " (in your view)" is your way of saying you don't believe MSNBC is biased, why am i not surprised at that.

I think anyone who screams about Pat being biased and doesn't give the opportunity for conservatives to speak should listen to this debate. It was incredible. The absolute conviction of Jim Rickards about how good Trump is and for the need of guns to prevent the government coming for all its people is mind-boggling.

He was helped in part by the fact that the other guy... (bill black ?) Was such a weak speaker/contributer.

But there was a multiple shooting in Australia recently so gun control doesn't work.
And what are the Australians going to do when the govt comes for them.

It's such a pity to see conservative politics being dragged through the gutter and made to look plain stupid and even worse- fearful. The likes of Rickards defending Trump by using ridiculous arguments is pethetic...even Sad.

Where's the rod of sensibility gone? I saw the same with Isreali politics back in the 90's and back then I blamed the Russians.

Couldn't get to listen to all the show but caught that panel discussion and of course McWilliams pouring cream on himself at the end.

    Anyone ever been to Killkinomics?

how many gun crimes in australia compared to the us? theres obviously something disturbing going on in the us regarding gun crimes, this is very obvious. theres a lot of fear in the american society, more guns is probably not a good idea when people are scared
