Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The whole world is blaming Trump Hector.

The whole world would be wrong, blaming Trump is a stupid simple solution.

Can't wait till a democrat is elected to the white house and all these mass shootings will just stop ...

Say a barman told a customer who had been in there drinking all night, that there were no Garda checkpoints in the road home and that the barman thought the guy was definitely sober enough to drive. Guy drives, crashes and knows kills someone.

That barman would be blamed for being significantly responsible (not ignoring that ultimately the drunk was to blame) but that wouldn't mean he was to blame for all drunk driving cases everywhere. See what I mean?

Also, your Democrats comment shows you're not looking at this objectively.

The whole world is blaming Trump Hector.

I don't hear them blaming Antifa and the left for the other shooter. And not everybody is blaming Trump. Just cos Newstalk says Trump is to blame and RTE bring on their token Democrat Larry Donnelly to tell us that Republican Trump is to blame - that's does not mean it's true.

Longest break Pats ever taken, a month or so now.

He took similar breaks at RTE. I seem to remember Vincent Woods (doing a great job) standing in for him for about a month.

Jonathan Healy just announced that Pat will return in the coming week!

They should recognize the influence their words have on objectionable people.
Particularly when they are filtered through antagonising newsfeeds.
Practically every issue Trump speaks on is antagonistic.
Either through intent, carelessness, or inability.

See comments on Baltimore and the use of the word 'infested' for recent example.

Doubt they care, maybe even hoping for the odd massacre. All of it appeals to their redneck base.

The question was asked about 'politicians'.

1 - Most are appropriately diplomatic.
    2 - Some are careless.
3 - Some don't care if they agitate things as their base will like it.
4 - Some do it on purpose.

Trump is mostly adopting behavior 3, when he isn't, he's on 4.

Baltimore hasn't areas infested with rats / cockroaches ? - it does, this is an OBJECTIVE fact!

This is what annoys me is this denial of truth.

Bernie Sanders was saying the same thing about Baltimore before - as well as a previous mayor - are they inciting "racism" ?

    Can't believe I'm debating this.

How do you know the degree to which Baltimore is infested?
Do you think it is any more or less so than areas of NY, Trump's home town?

Denial of truth? Do you understand the word 'context' and how it might be relevant to consider it in this case.

Where did Trumps "Rhetoric" include inciting to shoot people?
Even Trump isn't dumb enough to deliberately incite people to shoot others - what all fascists like himself have done is to de-humanize target groups of people (Hispanics, Muslims, Blacks, Jews), making them out as being sub-human ("these people are animals", as Trump said), thus giving people less moral qualms about attacking them - Trump is in a position of leadership, don't forget, unless you think he's an ineffective leader?

And specifically, Trump did encourage violence in at least one of his rallies:
    CNN wrote:
"I'd like to punch him in the face," Trump said, remarking that a man disrupting his rally was escorted out with a smile on his face.
    ...
Trump claimed the protester was "nasty as hell" and accused the man of trying to punch the security officers forcing him out of the rally, though the man did not appear to be fighting off those officers.

"In the old days," Trump added, protesters would be "carried out on stretchers."
See comments on Baltimore and the use of the word 'infested' for recent example.
Bernie Sanders was saying the same thing about Baltimore before
Show me a quote where Bernie Sanders says that Baltimore (or anywhere else) was "infested"?

This is a word that Trump deliberately uses to refer to areas where Black or Hispanic people are from - "infested", implying again that the people there are sub-human and should not be treated the same as other human beings.

First thing that sprang to mind was a similar référence leading up to the genocide in Rwanda, with politicians calling on the people to cut down the Tall Trees, or to crush the cockroaches. I'm not likening Baltimore to genocide, just saying that this is a classic MO of dehumanising people who are intended to be the object of public hatred/ violence

I'm sure there were people in Rwanda at the time who would have insisted that General Bagosora's calls were entirely innocent

I'm sure areas of NY/LA/Chicago/Any major city have bad areas that are infested with rodents.

They were getting into a fight over Baltimore, as the congressman cummings had made some remarks about Trump, he got back saying he should get his own city in order - which he had a point!

You could twist any negative comment about any place is racist - because of context.

    I say Darndale is a sh1thole, am I anti traveller now ??

Trump isn't a fascist because that's a desire for a particular societal construct.
    Trump doesn't think about society.
He thinks about what he wants for him and his family.

The Phoenix Magazine contains some satire, it's not all satire. You know that don't you?

You could have just Googled the quote and found the source. Pat said it in this interview.
