Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Charlie Flanagan giving us a lesson here in how to dodge a question. What is the point of having him on if he won't answer a simple question. I know it is the modus operandi of politicians, but it makes for infuriating listening.

I was listening and didn't hear him dodge any question.

He was very clear in his answers.

    Which question was it?

WTF, first story of the day, some Garda canvassing for support to get his Garda daughter reinstated after being let-go from the force for failing a fitness test. Really? Now that's some pull, and also Newstalk and PK lowering themselves.

The fitness test is super easy, and should be a lot more rigorous. What a joke.

Seriously? That's a bit low-brow for PK I would have thought? That's more Joe Duffy territory. Someone in Newstalk must need a speeding ticket rescinded. And that Garda should be reported to the Ombudsman.

Yeah, retired garda daddy was whinging about his daughter being sacked and her future prospects
Pat going on about how barely trained recruits and overweight retirees were being drafted in and this angel was being fired

    Worth listening back to it

It was pure waffle as usual from Flanagan.....saying it was up to the Ferry companies to check the bona fides of Brits getting the ferry across to Ireland.
Wouldn't commit to saying the Gardai should definitely issue fines or turn people back.

He sits on the fence on absolutely everything

He has no control over who does or does not get on a ferry in the UK.

It's also not his call as to whether Gardaí issue fines or not. that's an operational issue for the Garda commissioner, and there is no way the minister should be interfering.

    Anything else?

Pretty sure he was already retired.

Regardless, it was a nonsense segment. Pat seemed to have a lot of sympathy for her but as others say the fitness test are hardly that strenuous

    Go on out of that.

'Operational issue' is the go to 'get out of jail card' when it comes to anything to do with the Gardai. He sits in the Cabinet as a Minister...let him do his job that he's well paid for rather than hide behind the people who report into him.
A strong Minister sets the agenda for the Garda Commissioner to follow. The traffic queues on the news last night are down to weak guidance from the very top.

As for the ferries....Charlie is also in charge of immigration checks. He can instruct them to be stopped at Dublin Port and turned back. If he wanted. But that would involve making a decision that might not be popular.
He's very good at making decisions which he perceives will be popular!

Life is unfair, the rest of us don't have a retired relative to bat for us to get the job we want, nepotism is rife in Ireland as it is, let alone running off crying about it to PK.

    Suck it up, buttercup.

Pat’s “impersonation” of the sound a woman makes giving birth was both unexpected and unwelcome.

He comments on CNN, MSNBC and other shows from US, UK or Ireland as well. Don't expect him to issue a disclaimer every time.

Fox News not available in Ireland.

So how exactly does what he do constitute advertising if he is talking about something which is unavailable?

He might, just might of course, have access to the internet on which he may have seen either shows or clips.

Odd that an Irish radio host is promoting an interview on Fox News even when 99.9% of Irish don't watch or have access to Fox.

Has Pat completely lost the plot with Trump?

Fox News website covers a lot of the TV content https://www.foxnews.com/

Fox News is pretty much part of the story when covering the Trump presidency.

Maybe the more apt question Pat is addressing is "has Trump completely lost the plot ?"

    What do you mean?

Why is he discussing one of the biggest stories going on outside of Ireland iin relation to Covid-19?

He lost that on day 1.

The focus on Fox News seems to be an Irish fascination. I think more Irish watch Fox News than Americans.

Not really that would be The Young and The Restless.

Most Americans only watch the local stations news bulletins if they watch any news at all.

Is Fox biased? Good question I suppose it depends on your bias.

What an annoying interviewer Pat Kenny is.
Always thinking he knows more than the experts in the field.
Constantly butting in and bullying to get his own view across and let everyone know how knowledgeable he is.
    All about him.
    Can’t stand the moron.

No point in listening to his show if you feel like that? I feel the same way about Tubridy never listen to his show.
