Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What an annoying interviewer Pat Kenny is.
Always thinking he knows more than the experts in the field.
Constantly butting in and bullying to get his own view across and let everyone know how knowledgeable he is.
    All about him.
    Can’t stand the moron.

He is knowledgeable and experienced, but gets very irritated when somebody pulls him up on a point where they have more experience.

I think that Pat is as good as it gets on Irish radio, a consummate professional. However, he is not without flaws, and these were on display in that Sam McConkey interview. Instead of interjecting with his own opinions, he should have just let Sam speak, unobstructed. Unlike the majority of Pats guests, Sam McConkey is a world renowned expert and has dedicated his entire career to a specific field of science. There is no need to moderate such a guest, unlike politicians, journalists, etc. who are often pushing an agenda.

That’s the interview I heard alright.
He was very unprofessional butting in all the time as if the interviewee was wrong.

Didn't hear that interview but have to say I think Pat is the best broadcaster we have, very knowledgeable and always well prepared for interviews.

I don’t listen to him much. My wife had the programme on when I went into the kitchen. He wasn’t great in the interview this morning. Wouldn’t give the expert a chance to inform us. Behaved as if he was the expert.

Which is it, you don't listen to him much, or know exactly what he is like all the time?

I used to listen to him but stopped because of his bad manners.
    I see he hasn’t changed.
Why have an expert on and not allow him speak without butting in incessantly?

Fox News not available in Ireland.

Fox news is available on that interweb thing...

    https://video.foxnews.com/v/5614615980001#sp=watch-live

I think it might be available on that new fangled satellite television thing too...

Interesting. McC is a prof in RCSI, and a medic. How or why does he have so much time to waffle on (knowledgably?)? Is he not signed up to help out?

He wrote a waffly political piece in the IT a few days back, I think he has notions of being a pol.....

IMO, he is typical of professors, they are used to not being questioned, so they just spout.

Kenny uses him, presumably because he is available, but stops him going on.

Best of them all is the Prof of Biochemistry in TCD Luke O'Neill. Knows his stuff, keeps abreast of the progress, keeps it simple.

Agree, really enjoy listening to O'Neill, very pragmatic and no bs. McConkey is full of doom and gloom with apocalyptic scenarios.

O'Neill's in the clouds and only deals in unfounded positivity.

He was on with PK recently and to listen to him, you'd swear a vaccine is imminent and no body can get infected twice by sars-cov-2.

    Both of which is bullshit

In fairness to him he was on recently (PK possibly) and said something along the lines of "he's not a medic, he's an academic"

I think comparing him and the other lad is like comparing chalk and cheese.

Dermot Bannon on with Pat: "Architects are trained to listen to people".

Based on Room to Improve, I think Dermot was sick the day the were covering that module of the course.

He is some dose. The sooner RTE, and the media at large, get over their current preoccupation with property porn - and consign Bannon to the bin - the better.

Duncan Stewart was the man, back in the day!

Didn’t Duncan crowbar his daughter onto the show, I remember her looking gobsmacked any time she appeared!

Are you perhaps thinking of Eco Eye which features the daughter of a different RTE presenter?

How much longer is Pat going to present for given the announcement today.

Although I like Pat, there's no doubt he's passed his best and increasingly seems bored.

Hopefully be there for a long time yet.
Sounds far from bored and still far and away the best current affairs presenter in the country.

He could well afford to have retired years ago so that fact he is still here is a good sign. I never got the impression that he had lost interest

He's working at home now so it's handier for him

When you consider that some of the alternatives are Matt Cooper and Jonathan Healy, you begin to appreciate Pat so much more!

Pat would have a lot better show if he kept Terri Prone and her underlings in The Communications Clinic off of his show. And the same goes to other radio show presenters.
What does that woman have on them all that she is such a bloody regular fixture on our airwaves

Terri is a woman with just one talent:- salesmanship............she is able to convince a lot of ‘clients’ that she is good at giving wise and useful advice when in fact she just spouts a load of rubbish. Luckily for her there are plenty of people with more money than sense who fall for it.

In all the 30 or so years I've been listening to her on radio/tv, I've never heard her say anything interesting or insightful...

Couldn't take her in any way seriously as a communications/media advisor when I heard her say years ago that she doesn't watch or indeed own a TV...
