I actually find some of the stories surrounding the lesser known figures in history quite interesting, so enjoy those slots.

A great morning for the oul' scaremongering, what with the Provos coming to get us and the giant mutant rats...

Denis o Brien and he's lap dog pat, are struggling hard when there coming out with ****e like this!

How they can turn a story about the cigarette industry threatening the Irish government, into sinn fein being linked with the illegal tobacco industry I'll never know?

Obviously the recent polls have told them nothing? Denis o Brien and he's propoganda on behalf of he's beloved fine Gael doesn't work!

Or look-up the circumstances of the sale of SiteServ to DOB. That's the company that now has the contract installing water meters.

Pat tried to be logical, conservation requires metering.... Joe's answer - fix the leaks in the infrastructure, correct, but that isn't what the IMF wanted.

I'd have much rather if PK had asked him how come a guy gets €900+ on the social, owns two rented houses and has 42 no insurance charges?? I'd like to know how you organise that. Joe might know.

Id much prefer to hear pat asking he's pay master how he was found to be making illegal payments to michael Lowry in return for the awarding of a mobile phone licence!

And fine Gael are still awarding him government contracts now!

missed that but nothing funnier then hearing a socialist getting caught out in an interview. Did he give one of the standard socialist responses when caught like a rabbit in the headlights? Blame one of the following: Bondholders, bankers, wealthy elite, water charges, imf,

Exactly what I was thinking. When he's not given a chance to launch into his prerehearsed sound bites he literally does fall apart into a stuttering mess under any sort of questioning.

More often known as common sense.

These types of comments are so stupid.

I's not really about whether you're in favour of water metering or not. In all the interviews Pat does he rarely gets overly excited about the topic in hand. It's curious that water metering is one of the few things that gets him exercised these days.

Nope, it's the inability for the interviewer to give a straight or meaningful answer to a simple question.

I take it you didn't hear his recent Enda Kenny interview.

Not quite as stupid as believing you don't have some kind of vested interest in Irish Water, when you seem to pop up everywhere to defend that useless entity.

Tell me I'm and Irish Water employee, or at least a government stooge. Don't leave me hanging.

'the gift of life' well that there is where we begin to disagree. Mr Celibate and his sky god providing couples with 'gifts' of life and thereby ignoring evolution kind of scotches any rational argument...

Mick Clifford unable to contact Bernard McNamara re the lack of adherence to fire regulations in the building of the Longboat Quay Apartments - he understands he is involved in 'some projects' in Dublin. Haven't these been reported as contracts with Denis O'Brien and Michael Smurfit?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,472 ✭✭✭brooke 2

Keith Duffy making a very good point here. It was crazy for the government to have
taken the grant for free tutoring from children with autism to replace it with the free
preschool grant for all. I am aware of parents who were using the tutoring grant to
pay for their child to attend an ABA unit. When the grant was removed most parents
with children at that ABA unit could not send them there anymore, which was
heartbreaking, as the progress the little ones were making was very obvious to all.
As Keith reasonably asked, why could it not have been an either/or situation? As
it was, the door was slammed shut on the children with autism. Disgraceful
decision by Andrews at the time.

Bernard Mc namara is a good friend of Bertie ahern.

He's built a good few university and college building over the last twenty years.

Will these have to be checked aswell?

Iirc, there was a problem with the roof blowing off a section of New build in Trinity College a few years ago. There was also a problem with a leaking roof
at the McNamara built Clare County Council offices in Ennis.

Michael McNamara was a very reputable
builder. Bernard has run that excellent reputation into the ground. Unfortunately,
we are paying the cost of his mistakes
while he has been able to pick himself
up off the ground after the completion of
his bankruptcy in England. The residents of Longboat Quay, which was built by McNamara, are now in a desperate Priory Hall-type situation. It is possible we will be also paying for that fiasco! :(
According to Mick Clifford in The Examiner, Bernard is not contactable
at the moment, even though he has a presence in this country as his old pals,
Denis O'Brien and Michael Smurfit, seem
to have been only too keen to throw work his way.

I believe the roof in the I.T. in tralee leaked a few years ago as well. Not even twelve months after being built.

A plethora of serious problems regarding tenants rights in Ireland and they great boys and gals in Leinster House are finally going to legislate....to ensure payment of a utility bill. Seriously, you couldn't make it up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,506 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

The arrangements for tenants/landlords regarding bills and the rebate is a complete cluster****

One lump sum rebate per year, paid in full. How in hell do they expect that to work???
